Operation Monster Force

I don't recall that Soldiers of Fortune was presented as a cheaper base figure. I just remember them being pitched as customizable figures for army building and my response of "at these prices?!?"

I'm an army builder and I love OMF but so far I'm strictly limiting myself to 1 of each figure. I just can't army build at those prices. If OMF was the only line I collected then sure, I'd go crazy, but it is just one drop in a big expensive bucket.

It was in their Facebook group ages ago. It changed from concept to production

The only MF I bought more than one of is Dracula, because it’s, well, Dracula. Definitely not army-building this line. I committed to Classified for that, and this would just be waaaaaay too much even if I hadn’t. I mean, all best wishes to anyone who can and wants to . . . it’s just not gonna happen for me. Also I feel like there are so many different individual troops just as-is, with so many options, that even just ordering one of each kind of IS army-building. Like get all those Crimson Moon guys and you just *have* like a crazy werewolf squad, if that’s your fancy. Instant army “built”.

I went in for 8 of the Obsidian Sleepwalkers just so I could have a unified bad guy army for the villains. Felt they fit the vibe the best since the green one has a weird metallic feel to the outfit and the painted skull adds a lot to the face

I also in turn cancelled the zombie preorders and any of the good guy army builders since they can just be a squad

To be clear, are you just offering up the werewolf head and hands, or are you literally harvesting the one head you want and offering up the figure? If it's the latter, I'm interested... but if its just the head and hands I don't need that - I'm going to have tons of those already...
Yeah, everything minus the containment helmet. I’ll hit you up sometime in the distant future when that wave actually ships. Hopefully it won’t be too terribly far off from the December estimate. (Because I have no faith in it actually shipping in December)

So for real, thus far I haven't been army building. I did buy two of the Sleepwalker to use the Red Shadows heads - one carrying the flame thrower and one just sporting a gun.

But with the wolves I just preordered enough to have one of each... I had to order the zombie werewolf Legionnaire just to get the helmet for the Baron Ironblood figure... I'm hoping I can adequately fill in and paint the werewolf bites from that guy and maybe toss the masked head from Wolfsbane on him so the body doesn't go to waste.

That makes sense. One of the things I liked about FMF was how communicative they were about their process. But it does mean I can have long forgotten some element by the time it comes back around again. Like, hold on, whatever happened to Peter, the TV-head robot butler?

Something really working in Monster Force's favor for me (beside just being a really cool concept and execution), is that it hit right when the rest of my collections were wrapping up. I've basically gotten every Joe character I wanted in Classified, Lightning Collection got cancelled, and my wish list of 80s Marvel characters is on slow drip from Hasbro. FMF is basically getting my entire toy budget now.

Has there been any mention in any of the Big Bad Workshop lines of having any female figures?

Oh damn, that's right... they ARE doing ladies. I forgot the nun was part of this line.
Also Bettie as Rocketeer for Longbox Heroes. My assumption is once she and the other OMF ladies are out we'll see them crop up across the line as they'll start to have the parts catalog for it.

One question I have is whether or not we're getting a Ms. Claus incoming, and if she's going to match the OMF figures with the sort of busty midriff style. My hope is no, but then I feel like the Santa line is running out of gas year over year and I don't know if they want to do a frumpy old lady body that they're unlikely to use again.

Course, it'd be kind of cool if they DID use it for other characters. Y'know, actual range for body types is kind of a good idea. I'd like it if some of the Santa parts started to make it into other lines. Telling me that barbarian Santa couldn't be used for a big chain-gun wielding monster-fighter? C'mon. Let the hefty folks play too.

Yeah, Santa only rolls with Dummy Thicc ladies.
