One A Day 2.0 Day #446 - Skull the Slayer

Definitely a character I know barely anything about. If they made him I'd happily pick up some back issues to learn his story.

On that last version of him - do the opaque gloves and boots imply that he's naked everywhere else, or...?

I remember as a kid, during my time in Omaha, staying over at a friend's house and reading comics. He has a Skull the Slayer comic, which I had never heard of. I remember thinking it was pretty cool, but to this day I think that is the only thing I ever read with the character. I'd likely get a figure on clearance, or in a two pack of some kind.

I think you'll enjoy it. Skull the Slayer is a classic Bronze Age character that was created by Marv Wolfman and it was definitely done the Marvel way. It was an interesting combination of science fiction, pulp magazine adventure, dinosaurs, time travel and America's then fascination with the mysterious Bermuda Triangle.

Yes to Skull The Slayer!

How about a Skull the Slayer/Killraven 2-pack?

Indeed, sir.

A 2 pack with the Golden Age Black Knight would be most welcome by me, as well.

Yes to classic Skull! I bought the 8-issue run of that series about a decade ago, because it was super cheap, and was surprised by how fun it was. There were major creative shifts twice during that brief run which were a bit jarring (with each writer admittedly trying to undo what the previous writer had done while keeping it coherent) but it was still an intriguing book. Like a precursor to Lost, with every genre they could think of squeezed in.

Yes to Skull the Slayer in the Marvel Two-in-One blue outfit and to his Blazing Skull identity. Would likely pick up the more recent bearded looks as well. That Shock Troop group from the Quasar comic was pretty entertaining. It's too bad not much was done with them. It would be a way to get Dr. Druid and the Living Mummy. The female member Shadowoman/Sepulchre literally is just a repurposed Jessica Drew figure.

Definitely in for the two-pack ideas with Killraven or the medieval Black Knight. Ditto a Blazing Skull with either Dr. Druid or N'Kantu.
