The translucent effect NEVER looks good. It softens the sculpt, and just draws ugly attention to the joints and seams in the figure. Especially when it's built off a buck with pins.
Moreover, it doesn't really capture the way the character was usually drawn, even if it is closer to the intended effect or how they would "actually" look. It's kind of like how, yes, Iron Man's armor is supposed to be gold, but I want my figure to be a garish, bright yellow.
If Hasbro takes a shot at an opaque Iceman, I'd be thrilled to add him to the collection. Seems like a "cool" (I kill me) candidate for a Maximum figure. Ice-effects galore and an ice-slide, like others have said.
