One A Day 2.0 Day #374 - Stature

Day #373 - A Tribute to Gerry Conway

Gerry Conway changed the entire comics industry with one story.
There had been significant deaths in comics up to this point, such as Bucky and Uncle Ben, but the death of Gwen Stacy was truly significant and a huge game changer. Comic books grew up. Readers grew up. Mr. Conway set the stage for the future.

So many incredible stories. So many incredible characters, such as Werewolf By Night, Man-Thing, Mockingbird, Ben Reilly, Tombstone, Hammerhead, Firelord, Jackal, Man-Wolf and across the aisle Firestorm, Power Girl, Killer Croc, Killer Frost and Jason Todd.

A lifetime of talent and giving back to the comics community with his writing, humor, candor and always happy presence talking to the fans.

Thanks for everything, Mr. Conway. Rest well, kind sir.

Now onto characters Gerry either created or co-created -

Probably Gerry's most famous Marvel creation, where would we be without Frank Castle - another daring moment in comics by Mr. Conway.
Hey Hasbro - now's the time to revisit doing a better version of Frank's 1st appearance.

Gerry took Carol Danvers and reinvented her to be the
Her Hasbro - now's the time to give us the 70s Farrah hair head we should have already gotten, along with the bare midriff suit.

Gerry brought Marvel's version of Dracula into our lives, and we are all better off for it.
Ok Hasbro - now's the time for a proper Gene Colon-style update as a tribute.

Gerry added Hellcat to the Defenders.

Gerry Conway was the writer on the first Marvel and DC crossover back in 1976. Superman vs The Amazing Spider-Man.

This will never happen in a million years, but wouldn't a Superman/Spider-Man two pack produced by Hasbro be cool? And then another one by Mattel just to see who's would be better.

My money's on Dwight and Dan.

Gerry was the man! RIP.

And yes to every character listed on this page. If Gerry worked on them, there's a damned good chance I want that figure, as he worked during a very classic couple eras at Marvel.
