He's an Avenger so of course I'd get him, although I skew more classic.

This, broadly. At this stage, I have moved into roughly pre-1990 displays for reasons of both space and funds.

I used to be willing to research an unfamiliar character to psyche myself into wanting a figure, but I've shifted to only wanting characters I have an existing need for/ attachment to.

Exactly. Life has gotten way too expensive for me to buy characters I don't have a connection to. I used to buy lots of unfamiliar characters, sometimes just because they looked cool, but at this point I cannot afford to do that, and have to set up parameters for what goes in to the collection.

Yes to Manifold. He's one of the better additions to the Avengers in the 21st Century. Agree his best look is pictures 3, 4. Would also take his original look in #1.

Honestly, Manifold could come with a Gateway slug in seat pose and I'd be fine. His whole thing is he doesn't move much.
