One A Day 2.0: Day #282 - Grandmaster, a Tribute to Sal Buscema

The spectacular and amazing Sal Buscema passed away a few days ago. Words cannot express how much he shaped my love of comics and characters. Truly one of the all-time greats. All I can do is pay tribute to some of his creations that haven't been featured yet in One A Day. So, for the next few days let's pay tribute to one of the absolute best guys in the business.

Day #282 - Grandmaster

Would I buy? Day #1 instant purchase
Which version? Classic

The obvious choice would be a Grandmaster/Collector 2-pack. However, what if we follow the Champion/Starfox 2-pack with a larger figure and a smaller figure? I'd go with a Grandmaster vs. Living Lightning 2-pack from their recent game, however Grandmaster would be the classic look, not the modern look.

Classic Buscema Grandmaster would be hard to pass up! Sal was so amazing...truly an underrated master of the comics medium.

He'd be cool. My biggest concern is that his classic robe would be hard to engineer in a way that doesn't make the figure into a traffic cone. Less from an articulation standpoint, since Grandmaster really just has to stand around and look menacing, and more from an aesthetic perspective.

Classic Handbook Grandmaster is an instant enthusiastic purchase. No desire for later, more "let's try to be more like the movies" designs.

Thumbs up to Sal Buscema, a truly underrated artist. Condolences to his loved ones. His version of Grandmaster is a guaranteed purchase. Would also pick up classic Grandmaster as part of a two pack with either Collector or Living Lightning. All three characters are necessary.

I was just reading some old Sal Buscema Defenders last night. Pillar of Marvel. Not quite his brothers talent but probably more versatile.

Do Grandmasters thin robes in the soft pliable plastic DCUC capes were made of. Not like he’s a back flip sort of guy. He stands and plots generally.

That last pic almost looks like Jim Lee art, but I don't know that Jim Lee ever drew him unless he was in the Heroes Reborn stuff.

Not an F4 devotee myself, but the character is necessary for their part of the universe.

Eventually, we all need them.

So sorry to hear about Sal's passing, he was a true legend and the last of a generation. What would be a really amazing tribute is if we got a deluxe ML 2 pack packaged like the classic Sal Buscema punch

Yes, please and I echo the desire for them to do the Collector / Grandmaster 2-pack as the way to offer this even if it's a Made to Order type of offering due to 2 larger figures.
