New U.S. legislation impacting the import of toys?

All I know is I'm going to take a pass on the fruit salad at the Articulated Thoughts picnic.

I'm pretty sure I mentioned in one of my older threads about a prescription med (made in India) I was taking that had a "potentially carcinogenic" ingredient. Supposedly an error in the manufacturing process could turn a safe ingredient to something possibly effecting long term health. Yeah, they eventually caught the problem, but how long did it take them? No idea. Every year multiple recalls on meds from overseas manufacturers. I'm wondering if this new policy is mostly to do with the toy industry's lack of clout compared to food and pharma.

Started this thread on the last page, and went back 1 page. I think the thread is titled wrong. This is a food (and it's effects) thread.

Lots of volunteers on the forum to bring the salad, but even more volunteers to toss it.

... ahem, anyway: this breaks my heart because Character Options just announced a beautiful new wave of "Doctor Who" figures that hit me right in the nostalgia & I was really elated to pick them up.

I've wanted a Liz Shaw since I was ten. :(

Yeah, after Character Options spent two months working out a long-term plan two deliver product to the U.S affordably., they announced this set on almost the same day that they said U.S. delivery is dead due to this upcoming regulation. Talk about heart-breaking... I've been corresponding with a reshipper, I'm going to try it out with the Tegan set and see how it goes. It is an individual, so there is some risk, but he has good feedback. I checked out a couple of services, and the shipping+fees+duties is ludicrous. Maybe if there is interest from some folks here, we can combine orders and save on some shipping costs. However, multiple or larger packages may trigger a customs inspection, so who knows...

Probably will be scaling back on my imports after my Mafex AOA figures get here. Beyond that really all I care about is the Lingjihun/Mety TMNT stuff getting here going forward. If I want something bad enough I'll just overpay BBTS.

I took the plunge with the reshipper. I'm already up to $63 on the figure alone, so assuming I didn't just throw my money away, I'm not convinced this is going to end up much cheaper than the eBay route. It doesn't help that the UK pound is apparently stronger in 2026. At least the UK leg of the shipping is free.
