NECA - General Thread

I wish they'd release the remake/modern POTA figures. Although, they did make the odd decision for the arms to not have bicep or elbow rotation but instead made their forearms rotate. Strange choice. But I do regret passing on those. I did buy the gorilla and still have it. Should have gotten the others though.

Sadly, I don't recall him mentioning any rights issues. They did do the 8" version of Heston. I can't specifically remember the issue. If I recall, I think because NECA didn't think a human would sell in a PotA line (that didn't make sense to us fans of the franchise) and the sales were just enough to keep putting out the next wave--until they weren't.

Guys just look at this Neca section. Have you ever?? Every one I've ever seen looks like a nuclear armageddon site and here I come across this gem in Charlotte, NC while I was working out of town.

If any of you frequent this Target I am very jealous.

Also I committed a little light financial treason against my bank account while I was there.

A rep had to have been there pretty recently, but even the good stores around me never look THAT good, unless the rep had just been there and actually done their job.

Found Pamela Voorhees this week at the Target near my work. VERY happy to finally have her in the display (the old two pack version just wasn't up to par...happy to retire that one).

NECA things I'd like to see. All 7" naturally.

1. Continue Pee Wee's Playhouse
2. What We Do in the Shadows
3. Monty Python
4. Can't we ever get a Taylor and Nova to finish off their POTA license?
5. EC Comics themed Crypt Keeper, Vault Keeper & Old Witch.
I'd like an Abigail. That movie was great, and she works well with their horror stuff.

Sweet Christmas that is BEAUTIFUL. The NECA spots in the two Targets nearest me either look like a bomb went off or are completely empty. One had a pretty decent number of items when I was there on Friday but boxes were backwards or sideways so you couldn't see the contents, and the haulathon stand looked like it got violently mugged.

Must be a rich people Target. All the ones I’ve been to in the NYC area are pretty sad, but there’s one I go to during the holidays when I’m in Michigan that always looks like this. It’s in the fancy town where Madonna grew up. Every time I go there I see multiple McFarlane DC Multiverse platinum editions, including the desirable ones.

Oh heck yeah! Had a lot of fun with Abigail. Horror is one of those genres too that I feel like can sustain itself on cult classics. Even if a person hasn't kept up with certain franchises, they may remember seeing it from their childhood and want a figure of it, or even if people aren't familiar with a franchise /character, they often have the built-in Cool Factor that looks good on the shelf. Abigail, Heart Eyes, Frendo from Clown in a Cornfield- I feel like they could all make some really cool Ultimates. As they say- everyone is a fan of something, and NECA feels like a company that makes things in juuuuuust small enough batches that it almost always sells through.

Yeah, as a fellow NY'er, it feels like Christmas when there's even like 2 pegs worth of stuff at any of my local Targets. Every time I go home to Kansas, their shelves are usually stocked full- not quite to the above level, but not far off either. Then again, most of the toy selection at any given store is pretty abysmal here at times. It takes forever for us to get new things in, and when we do, there's so many people, that they're usually gone right away.

It was a Super Target and seemed to be way better kept than the ones I frequent in Memphis. What's funny is that none of the Targets in Memphis have any toys behind lock and key but this rich Target had all the Legos behind glass.

That's how it is here too- all the Legos are behind glass at every Target, and a few of them even have some of the basic figures behind glass too. Theft is pretty rampant here in NY, so in some stores it feels like half the store is behind glass. Depending on when you go, it can take forever and a day to get an employee to come unlock it for you. Sometimes they never show up at all. I keep anticipating the day that I walk in and all the NECA stuff is behind glass, since it's in the electronics section. I feel a little more trusting of NECA's stuff- I don't see as many wonky paint apps or warped limbs or things, but I still don't want an employee hovering over or keep calling them back if I wanna check out each figure individually.

That sounds SO tedious. I'd just take my chances and order online. Or head to Jersey!
