NECA - General Thread

Interesting they are doing retro cloth figures for DC. Wonder if Batman & Catwoman will be far behind?
 
Dang. I don't know what changed over there at NECA, but I'm liking it so far. I'm sure this is the closest we'll ever get to any sort of Batman Returns Ultimate. Depending on how the final product looks, I may bite on these.
 
Someone's gotta help me understand why I should be excited about this. McFarlane printed its own money with its Returns line so now Neca wants a piece, but all we're gonna get is the same Returns characters they did as oversized dolls? No Batmobile, no penguin armies, no Jack Nicholson Joker, so what's the point?

I'll admit I was temporarily interested in this but then I had to remind myself "wait, this is Neca, the same company that shows you prototypes of Gargoyles already made and just never releases them while saying figures in Lootcrates will never be released again, and then releases them."

Sorry NECA, go threaten some folks over their TMNT dioramas because your shipping dept can't manifest correctly.
 
Great for those that want em. In the absence of anything else I'd probably have gotten them if they came out years ago, but Batman looks like his mask is oversized and Catwoman's default head looks like a bored Thora Birch compared to the Michelle face sculpt with the hair sticking out.

McFarlane is far from perfect, but this just seems like "hey guys, us too, us too!" after the fact. A promise (or the best equivalent of whatever NECA gives these days) to do the other 3 movies in the quadrilogy would garner more interest from me, but I think these are just a Return to Returns cash-in.
 
NECA keeps doing this thing where they release a Catwoman, Penguin, and then pair them with the 89 costume. If they do a Batman Returns costume I may consider it, but I have no interest in the 89 suit in this context.
 
I gotta wonder if this is like the AvPvDC two packs and DC just lets NECA have a little 3rd Party Loophole treat when the master license swaps hands or if NECA some how carved out a spot for themselves in the new Mattel DC era and it’s 8inch retros…

Either way, probably only interested in Penguin myself, the pleather looks a little iffy on the other two

Seriously, did someone there piss in your cornflakes or something?

Not liking the 8in retro line is one thing, but the HATE you seem to harbor towards the company seems really unhealthy.

The retro line isn't one I collect many of, but I do have a few, and they're nod bad for the price. The clothing is generally pretty good over the base body with the unique heads and accessories (in most cases).

I'm set on movie Batmen after all the McFarlane ones, but there are collectors of this style who haven't gotten these characters before, so good for them.
