NECA '87 Toon TMNT

So my first thought was that it was a B:TAS accessory but couldn't match it. I actually found it in the fabric cape of a McFarlane DC Multiverse Strange Lives of Superman figure, which came out this past spring or so. I got most of my B:TAS figures when they originally came out pre-Covid, so wouldn't make sense for it to be those.

I thought NECA '87 Turtles because I was buying a lot of them this spring catching up on the line (and because the accessory clearly looks animated inspired). I thought it could also be Mondo, but I'm super careful about handling those figures and accessories and would be surprised to have lost something.

For now, I'm going to keep it in my Donatello's Lab display.
 
This is the one that came with the rerelease Two Face. Looks very similar. Did you have the original or the McFarlane rerelease?

I have the original DC Direct versions of both the B:TAS Two Face and the New Batman Adventures one.
 
Got my Chooga Chooga Chooga Chooga Choo Choo Shredder in today.

Interesting to note: It shipped out of Hebron, KY. And the shipping label says Diamond Comics Distributors. So, I think this confirms that NECA purchased Diamond for the distribution rather than continuing the licenses.

Now it'll be even easier for them to ship double orders to everyone and demand them back with threatening emails!

I never ended up getting a lot of stuff from this line, because it's expensive and can be weirdly hard to get in Canada. I've been holding out that eventually I'm gonna have a crazy big display like some of you have. But today I made a decision and bagged up everything I have (which, again, isn't a lot) except for Pizza Club Leo and the Samurai Mikey/Space Don two-pack (which I turned into Samurai Leo). Getting rid of this stuff that's basically been in a tote in the closet since a month after I got the most recent item - which was a good while ago.

I think I'm better off, and ultimately will be a lot happier, living vicariously through you guys and your amazing displays.
 
In early 2015, I wrote a Facebook post and tagged a bunch of toy company figureheads and some influencers like Pixel Dan, and discussed this idea of an all-encompassing TMNT toyline that covered all Turtle media from toon, to comics, to movies, etc., and focused on the adult collector, with figures to scale with another, collector grade paints and sculpts, etc.

It was my holy grail. It was all I had wanted besides an updated, collector grade Batman the Animated Series line--and I knew from my conversations with Kevin Kiniry that that was coming. But Turtles never had a line that really scratched that itch.

I remember Dan specifically saying in the comments that he doesn't see that happening so long as Playmates held the license.

That following Toy Fair, NECA showed off the Quarter Scale 1990 Donatello. And I think we know where it's gone from there.

This is the one line I will never quit, nor never sell. So long as they make them, I will be there. A decade later and it is everything I wanted and more.

All that to say, I commend you for being able to walk away. I couldn't do it, I'm in too deep.

To be fair.... it helps that I'm disappointed by them every time I take them out of storage. They just don't articulate the way I want on top of NECA just making some of the most consumer-unfriendly decisions in the interests of that Hasbro 'never make a perfect Darth Vader' attitude. Tons of cartoon Turtles out there.. but nothing is swappable between them because the heads change, the head construction changes, the skin tones change. It's kind of an infuriating line if you care the most about the actual Turtles themselves.
Despite using vertical wrist hinges for YEARS in this line... Samurai Mikey didn't get them, which is exhaustingly enraging. The Turtles themselves feel too big compared to many other figures in the line - especially April (or April is too short, but I don't think she is when compared to Casey or Shredder?).

Also, like I said, it's way harder to collect this line in Canada than in the US. Way harder. And way more expensive. Which means I'm probably a lot more nitpicky than I might otherwise be. Those four Pizza Turtles, in Canadian dollars, were like 300-something bucks. And they don't even come with the right assortment of expressions to look good displayed together. Just ... meh. Other people aren't bothered by this stuff and are putting together great displays that don't take up space in my house, don't take any of my money, and I don't have to look at them long enough to get angry about the little things.
 
It's weird that when with etailers getting NECA access, it's like this particular line is still held away from Canada. The Mirage line actually rots on pegs at my EB. Same with the Archie. And that line debuted way back at Toys R Us and also never moved. But they will get figures. And then all the independent online toy stores have no problem getting Mirage or last Ronin. Even Walmart carries Last Ronin here. When EB did have the animated line, it was a limited one shot drip feed.

The 2012 stuff also showed up after a wait.

I wonder if there's some obscure licensing issue. I think Gargoyles also had that, and wasn't truly allowed in Canada, someone explained to me years ago.

The only two figures I have from the subline are the new April, because that is my definitive April, and Panda Khan. I'm content with the Mirage and 2012, because that's all I could get.
 
@altcunningham Yeah, I have no idea why it seems like there's an embargo on getting these into Canada, but it definitely makes collecting them far more difficult/costly. Last Ronin stuff doesn't seem to move much at Walmart, and doesn't seem to get restocked when it finally sells. My EBs are also using Archie and Mirage stuff as dust collectors. And I can't remember the last time I saw anything at TRU besides maybe a Mirage or Archie figure that no one wants.
