NECA '87 Toon TMNT

Maybe it'll be for the NYCC exclusive and then everyone can sigh happily that they don't have to scramble to get it. That's how I felt about the surf bros for SDCC!

It's also possible that the re-addition of Toy Fair sucked up some of the reveals they would have saved for this event. Or maybe they want to pivot to more of a social presence for reveals and deemphasize the conventions. Not only did they not reveal a ton, but the displays were far simpler this year as there were no street scenes, wrestling rings, or other dioramas. As fun as it is to follow these events from afar, they're probably expensive for companies and kind of antiquated if all you care about is drumming up excitement in your fanbase. NECA can probably reach just as many via online reveals as they do with convention ones. Plus, New York is certainly much closer to their base of operations than San Diego if they decide to prioritize those events.

Got a shipping notice for my Beach Bros which corresponded to the package at the Diamond Distribution warehouse in Olive Branch.

That still leaves the mystery package which is out for delivery today and the suspense on that one is about to kill me.

I've got a package as well in the FedEx app from Diamond. Time to get used to seeing that when ordering from NECA, I guess.

Is yours also in Olive Branch or a different warehouse? I'm pretty excited about being so close to a distribution point. That's the town I have to go to to get to my nearest Target.

Yeah, Olive Branch.

Mystery solved. It was parts for my slightly damaged Cats Lair. They were not the correct parts mind you, not even close.

I already got a partial refund though so I'm just going to call it good enough.

Also inside was a personal note from Brian Flynn who wanted to know if I could hook him up with a link to @Damien 's OnlyFans.

Also got a shipping notice for something from NECA coming from MS. Only two things I have are the Beach set and Archie Comics Wingnut and Screwloose.

Got my Beach Bros set today.

Sigh...

I wish I cared about this set more than I do. It just feels so superfluous, which I guess is what you would want out of an SDCC exclusive. But this is superfluous PLUS. Almost as if I wasted my money. I know, I know.

I usually cannot wait to crack open a package on NECA TMNT delivery day. I sat around after work, drank an iced tea, ran to the store, took a shower, scrolled through TikTok and Instagram, and said "I suppose I could open this".

And here I am, feeling left empty and unfulfilled, eagerly anticipating my supposed Archie Wingnut and Lost Years Mikey that should be coming tomorrow and wishing this set were those instead.

If this is the "new body" the Turtles are going to be on going forward, I'm not real sure what is all that improved or different. Other than being pinless and the double jointed elbows that serve to be completely ineffectual due to the elbow pads. Seeing what they did on the 2012 Turtles shows me that they could do more with these.

Also, not to keep harping on this set, but the Turtles seem FAR too dark. Their skin is practically black green. Not cartoon accurate at all.

Overall, as huge of a Turtles fan as I am, I just am not impressed. I'm talking full presentation top to bottom.
