NECA '87 Toon TMNT

We shall see. It might depend on how quickly they can produce them because who knows what loophole Trump will turn to next in order to pursue tariffs? If he's smart, he'll just accept it and he can blame his tariff policy failing on the Supreme Court. They have essentially given him an out on something that is deeply unpopular and has only widened the country's trade deficit.

Yeah, they’re basically throwing him an economic life preserver and an easy off-ramp.

If NECA can get out the Giant Krang and the Kitchen before they lose the license (*if* just for you guys who want to stay positive) my $600 bucks is waiting for them, but I’m not holding my breath for the pre-order announcement

Anybody that expected Trump to react to the SC decision with anything BUT more tariffs is an insane person.
NECA is never making those big items, you guys. It's not about whether this round of tariffs get reversed. It's the fact that the entire US economy is run by the fiat of a complete fucking lunatic. They can't/won't say that, but that's what it is. They're not going to go 'okay, the SC says no tariffs - turn the machines on!' and then end up with 67% tariffs by the time the production run is even getting boxed up.

If the cause of a thing not being made right now is 'the tariffs' - the REAL cause is 'Trump is a psychopath and is actively destroying the economy every time he opens his mouth' - which means no changes until Trump isn't president. Gotta accept it.

Since it was in the conversation earlier, I just ran across this (the question and answer is near the end):

Trevor states that they have "lots of figures planned for the next couple of years" (planned...), and that there's no "concrete announcement" but "we got lots more to do." He seemed pretty positive when he talked about it, wasn't beating around the bush any, so hopefully that's a big positive sign in where things are headed with the license stuff.

Also fuck all the tariff bullshit, I cannot believe the clown world we fucking live in, holy shit, why can't things be normal.

This is going to be the lightest Haulathon for me.

The 2012 stuff, the Terrifier figure, Super Grover, and MAYBE PeeWee.

I can wait for wide release on the Sakai stuff, and the robo Tokka/Rahzar do not interest me. Maybe if I see them in person and they look cool enough, we shall see. But yeah, otherwise, I'm good.

I think last year I only grabbed the toon Shredder so those Sakai turtles alone will put me over that. I did pick up a Count for a friend, but that was it. I'm a "maybe" on the robo dudes. They look pretty cool so if it's a set in front of me I can see myself grabbing it. On the other hand, I'm guessing NECA is going to want $65 for it and I don't know how I feel about that. Hoping those Sakai turtles come in under $40 a pop.

Popped into Target today for cat food and hoping to spot a Haulathon display (haven't seen any reports of such) and was surprised to see the NECA signage had been removed from the collector section. Could be nothing, but Target rarely seems to do anything like that without a purpose. I guess time will tell if it means anything. My kid did find some new Aphmau thing she was hoping to find and the cat now has more food so the trip wasn't a total bust.

Like overall NECA signage? Or just TMNT shelf tags?

On a potentially related note, NECA has been sending out emails for past exclusives for sale on their store, including the ‘87 toon Newsroom set and the Mirage Turtles four pack. Could be nothing, but thought it was interesting.

I’m personally hoping they list something like the Sewer Lair or movie street set diorama, which are both like $600+ on eBay.

It feels like every year we have a “NECA dropped by Target?!” rumor and every year they keep selling NECA stuff with the same shit distribution and nothing else changes.

Kinda hope it’s true this time, if the Toon line's ending with the license change, then Target can get bent. They made their choice in the culture war and very clearly said they’d rather bend a knee early and quickly to fascism then stand up for the people who actually shop there. I went from “well I’m here, might as well grab a few things…” when I take my weekly photo to “fuck this place!”, I’ve watched my monthly RedCard statement go from “$200+” because I’d grab milk, maybe some pantry staples, and bread (and if I was good boy maybe a cheap ass box of Family Sized Krave or seasonal holiday candies) on my weekly photo stop to “$0” or if I’m lucky and there actually was a new NECA item “$40” because why would I give a place that actively wants me dead extra money?!

Target decided to court the people who only go into Target to get angry they have Pride Month merch, wreck a display and not buy anything, and it bit them in the ass, the sooner I can stop going to Target to save $6 on my little plastic treats the better.
