NECA 2012 Turtles

One of the few things I liked about what Super7 did with Ultimates was when Shredder got both softgoods and plastic cape options, so you could do what you wanted with him.
Back when they seemed to give a shit about what their customers would want.

Wow that Metalhead looks great. I never thought I’d want to own two Metalheads, and nor will I most likely. But I’ll certainly want to.

Ha, it'll be at least my third Metalhead, fourth if you count the MotU crossover.

Some more pics. There's a Kraang body hiding in the dumpster as well as little easter eggs with the paper goods and Irma on a t-phone.

Ugh, Haulathon 😂
The bane of international collectors. Hopefully they put both up at the same time so we don't have to risk a sell out or pay double shipping.

That said, happy to have a time frame for them. Not gonna lie, I was hoping the next wave would be sooner than Q4 but happy with how they look (hopefully they have something worked out for Splinter's articulation).

The next wave definitely needs to have April. Hopefully Karai, Razhar and Fish face as well but the Kraang are also needed. Lots of options. Really hope Mattel doesn't kill this line early. I'd even take Haulathon exclusive over that despite my earlier comment.

Huh, Trevor mentions in the Pixel Dan video that they had to lose some accessories like hockey gloves and roller blades from the Casey figure because the price the factory quoted them was "out of control". With everything they'd wanted to include, he says it would've been a $65 or $70 figure.

I’m rewatching 2012 right now, so I’m super excited to see these figures. However, I can’t help noticing they’ve shown no TMNT stuff past 2026 (while they did show some 2027 items for other licenses) and I’d be really disappointed if they don’t get to April. I hope NECA gets to keep doing TMNT, but if not, this line really needs April and some Krangs to finish it off.

Toy Fair historically is just for the current year so I wouldn't put much stock in the lack of 2027 dated items (plus a bunch of these will slip anyway). SDCC is where we'll have to put our antennas up.

I have yet to see anyone approach the big question that every single one of them needs to be asking:

"Hey Trevor, what's going on with you guys and the license for next year??"

I always wonder when I'm watching these interviews why these folks don't ask questions or do a follow-up...

A lot of them set ground rules before the camera starts and that is likely something they discussed if no one is asking.

So I’ve never seen the 2012 TMNT show. I have seen a decent amount of the 2003 show and couldn’t get super into it, even though I actually really like the designs.

Is the 2012 show better in most folks opinion?

It is in mine. Some of the best character work of any of TMNT shows, I'd say. Best Mikey and Splinter for sure.
