Muppets (including The Muppet Show, Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock)

I have yet to see a good Miss Piggy. The hair usually is off, but they also don’t make her round enough. Maybe we’ll get lucky and see 2 heads - one that turban look from the show

I was pretty impressed as a Mirage Turtles fan.

I cannot vouch for anything else.
I'd say Turtles are the outlier. They seemed to operate with that one like a lot of folks did in the early 90s where it was get in while the getting is good. And maybe their output is what really makes the other stuff move slowly. Now it seems like the goal over there is to pump out those Ben Cooper figures as fast as possible.

I think the DST Piggy figure is pretty spot on. The Palisades Pigs in Space is good, too, except her hair is too brown. That said, I'm excited to see what NECA makes and hopeful it will be the best version so far.

Is that true for most of NECA's lines? Is their Sesame Street line exceptionally slow, or is that the norm for them?
I think so. Gargoyles was pretty slow. Dinosaurs of course only got two figures out. If they have something that performs really well they'll try to move faster, but they don't really do waves of releases with their properties and instead just do one or two at a time so, at best, you're looking at 2-5 figures per year. They seem to pump out turtles faster because there is a proven track record there, and because if you're starting a new subline of TMNT you kind of have to prioritize getting out the four main characters.

Watched the new Muppet Show. It definitely evokes the same tone as the original, but I don’t think I’ll ever get used to someone other than Jim voicing Kermit. Whenever I hear it sounding wrong, it distracts me and makes me sad. Because it’s not just the voice, it’s the timing, it’s the spirit. Jim had a way of making it feel like unscripted chaos but he was always in control, in the most subtle ways. Like a master teacher, he made you feel like you as a student were the inventor, even though he secretly gave you the idea for free without you noticing. That kind of magic isn’t present in modern Muppets. So Kermit will never feel like Kermit to me. The rest of the Muppets were passable though. I do wish the show success. Maybe some really good guests will draw me in.

Super 7 Flocked Big Bird, 50% off, if anyone is interested. Can’t speak for the reliability of the retailer, this is my first order with them.

You should be fine. They're Hot Topic's anime shop, basically. Only thing you have to worry about is them running out of stock and canceling your order.

I don't love much current pop music, but this format can serve as an introduction to what's out there these days. I've heard of Sabrina Carpenter, but don't know her music. I saw her perform on the Grammys. And she was cool enough to be a guest on the Muppet Show. So that alone helps me to appreciate what she's doing. If she's as big a star as she is, there's gotta be a good reason. Her song was fun and the presentation of it was classic Muppet style.

BoxLunch is great! Like Misfit said, they're a more nerd focused Hot Topic, basically. And for every $10 you spend, they donate a meal through Feeding America. Pretty barebones, but hey, it makes me feel at least a smidge better about spending money.

If Disney isn't run by a bunch of cowards they'll bring in Tobias Forge/Papa V of Ghost to guest host an episode of the new Muppet show.
