Have we heard anything about these figures since Toy Fair/ Wonder Con? I was sure we were supposed to see our first solicits and preorders go up after Memorial Day weekend. Wasn’t that discussed at the panel where these were originally showcased? Official assortment breakdowns are as follows:

Wave 1:

Liu Kang
Scorpion
Sub-Zero (Bi-Han)
Kitana

Sub-Zero (Quai-Lang) vs Mileena Deluxe 2-pack

Raiden figure also shown at Wondercon but placement unknown

I forgot this was going to be a thing. I sold off my Storm Collectibles MK for a nice profit when they lost the license so I'd love to start a new line where they might get closer to completion and not cost an arm and a leg.

I think these were advertised as $22.99 but that was pre trade war so who knows?

Todd's got quite a ways to go before he knocks on the door of what Storm Collectibles was charging. I just want the first two games rosters completed. Maybe 3 also.

I’m kind of hoping Todd covers some untouched territory when it comes to the MK license. We’ve never seen figures from MK Mythologies, MK4, Deadly Alliance, Decimation (to a serious extent at least), the two movies from the 90’s, Defenders of the Realm, MK Konquest and so many others. There is so much untapped potential here that could be mined and I’d hate to see yet another company just focus on the first trilogy. It’s too easy to go that route and I don’t think Todd wants to make that mistake again

Especially now that he’s letting go of the DC license and his entire calendar is freeing up in about 12 months time.

Who HAS done the original trilogy in depth though? It seems like everyone makes a handful and that's it, at least as far as what I've followed.

That’s a good point I guess. Maybe Toy Island? Perish the thought…

Hopefully Todd's line is successful enough that he can do Multiverse style and have mixed waves from lots of MK games and such. Then we can all pick up the ones we want.

Yup that’s the dream. I just hope we get figures for MK vs DC before the license for DC expires. That would be a nice little capstone for both lines and then when the DC license is completely sunsetted we can really get off to the races and make some cool looking figures from both the more well regarded MK titles to the lesser known characters and games. I just need a Sub Zero from Mythologies and Deadly Alliance. Those are my two favorite designs. Also I think it might be fun to delve into the various MK comic series likenesses as well from Midway Games, Malibu and DC Comics. We’d be dealing with very small niche markets at this stage but they would make for cool box sets or comic con exclusives

I might have to draw the line if he did movie figures though.

These are due to go up for preorder at some point this summer, yes? That's the last I had heard.

I think Todd has a real opportunity to fill some gaps here. Give us a Sonya, Jax, and Shang Tsung.

There was an IGN live today that had an updated look at Scorpion and Sub Zero. Packaged shots too so they must be close. Scorpion's spear is on a bendy wire.

Also is there a rule that states Scorpion and Sub Zero must always be the first in a MK line?

Yes. And expect there to be as many ninjas in this line as there are Batmen in the DC line.

Yeah, they are the Wolverine/Snake Eyes of MK, so it's a given there will be many variations of those two. I've never been happy with any of the previous toy lines, but have wanted to collect a MK line forever.

These look like solid representations of the classic MK2 scorpion and sub zero though so I will give credit to Todd on that front. Seems like normally thanks to Storm and Jazzwares whenever we saw variants of these costumes in modern times the look was reflective of a redesign thanks to some DLC pack in the games that reintroduced the classic suits and this is the new style guide. But Todd really went back to the well and focused purely on the early designs and sprites from Midway and Acclaim which is very well appreciated.

Damn if that means that we can actually get a Goro figure that kind of looks like the maquette that was used in the Claymation animatics for the first game then that would be incredible. We’ve never had a Goro figure that is that prototypical and simplistic before. Sure we have had “Classic” Goro figures and certainly more modern interpretations too. But most if not all of those designs hail from the 3D era of MK games when characters began to look more detailed. But in the first game that physical model looked like a castoff from some Willis O’Brien and Ray Harryhausen production and he just doesn’t look that simplistic any more.
