Todd certainly remembered how he likes to save money! But yeah, he should have the wider horizontal panels and not the tinier, diamond ones, which also would have unlocked a new torso piece for other versions of the other ninjas.

Yeah I would prefer the full roster of Ninjas in their UMK3/MK Trilogy garbs but I understand that MKII is the more popular video game

It feels like they keep getting chances to make UMK3/Trilogy stuff pretty easily and then just go for the super easy repaint. Both Ermac and Jade could have been UMK3. And then you have new parts for more figures!
 
Eh outside of the ninjas there are still figures that have come out that are 99% the UMK3 designs. Johnny cage, Lou Laing and raise are basically wearing their MK3 looks. Also once we get Jax, he just needs new arms. Kung Lao will only need blue pants for his MK2 design and brown pants for his MK3 design. We’ll need new characters like Curtis Stryker, Kabal, Nightwolf and Sheeva. We’ll get there in due time. Once Todd is done with the DC license for good he should be able to dedicate more of his budget towards spawn and MK figures and really broaden his horizons now that DC isn’t taking up the lion’s share of Todd’s time, budget and warehouse space
