We don't have a thread for model kits, so I thought I'd make one. This thread is for discussion of the model kits that build action figures or their vehicles, although I suppose if you want to talk about traditional AMT (or similar) kits you can do that, too!

I recently got the new BvS/JL Batmobile kit from Play club in the mail, it's a 1/12 scale vehicle with lights. Gigantic box. I haven't built it yet, so these aren't my pics:

It looks like it's a good size for Mezco, probably Mafex. You can build it to be the BvS version or you can add on the parts for the JL one. Has anyone picked this up yet? If so, how was the build?

The Modoking kits have been really nice, too. Currently I've built the Tumbler, the Batpod, The Dark Knight Batman/Batsignal set, and the Batfleck from the Flash film. I've picked up the Batcycle from the Flash, but I haven't built it yet.

Here's a look at the Tumbler from our YT channel (along with a custom Jokermobile made by Mrs. Smallville)

I don't have a video on the Dark Knight stuff, but I did a timelapse for the Batfleck from the Flash movie. He's...ok. Honestly, it's the only kit I haven't been super impressed with so far:

Anyway, sorry for spamming videos to our channel but I figured it was the best way to show these things.

Have any of you been picking these kits up? What do you think?

I had the crowdfunded Batmobile from McFarlane, but as soon as I got a preorder in on this Play Club version I sold the McFarlane one I had. This one is just about the same size, but it's a two-seater and has more options.

A nice long Easter weekend to chill out and process the slightly alarming news that I require an operation in not one but two! places, plus the whole turbofucked state of the world thing. So I did what anyone would in such circumstances: devour the heck out of a chocolate bunny, and put a model kit together.

It was mostly a fun build, with a couple of hairy parts, one part that wasn't exactly quite clear and had to be glued after snapping, and a missing lamp cover on the glass sprue, which I'm mulling over how best to deal with (a pal suggested a googly eye lens might work!). Very happy with how it turned out though, it looks incredible, basically has everything except the 'sliding down into the weapons position' feature. Don't think I'll bother with putting the pod in the front housing storage though, too much like hard work.

Call me crazy but...I want them to do The Bat now.

Haha I also skipped putting the Batpod in the front storage. When the kit was on preorder, I mistakenly thought that the pod folded up somehow and was stored underneath, and I built the Batpod first. But after building the Tumbler I saw that you have to take the Batpod apart to store some pieces here and some pieces there and yeah, it seemed like way too much work lol

I also found the Batpod to be a tad flimsy, unless I did something wrong. It's not as quality as the Tumbler is, in my opinion.

Cool to see someone else building these! I finally got the BvS/JL Batmobile kit in from Gundamit (massive, massive box) but I haven't had time to bust it open yet.

The Bat would be awesome!

I've already done the bike from The Flash and was really happy with how it turned out, it's a surprisingly solid piece of kit. Which yeah, meant the Batpod was something of a letdown as far as how flimsy it felt in comparison. That said, I feel like it's just the nature of the design, it's just a cobbled together emergency escape cycle, so I think the only way to do it without it feeling fragile would be a metal parts kit.

I passed on the Affleckmobile, though I partly regret it as it looks awesome. I really have nowhere to put one though!*

* Note this entirely valid point would still not stop me from getting The Bat, or an '89 car or wing for that matter!
