I’m not a fan of the deco on his outfit. Since when has daredevil ever had a black belt and logo on his outfit in the comics that wasn’t the result of a printing error? Silhouetted in red against black I can understand. But just having the logo drawn in black? Lazy and inaccurate as fuck. I still need a classic Frank miller styled Daredevil though and this is the closest we might come for a little while.

The figure is not based on a comic drawing but rather the vintage figure that was released in the Secret Wars line... which is sort of appropriate given the theme of this line. It doesn't mean you have to want it... but there was a valid reason it looks this way. It seems likely to me the proper comic deco will see a release in the future, maybe not until 2027, but maybe sooner since Born Again season 2 drops the end of this month.

I very much doubt they made a new Daredevil figure with the only intended purpose being to pay homage to a 40 year old toy. Hasbro is just doing the classic move where they'll sell a desirable character in a costume few want first before coming back with the one everyone is asking for. If you don't like this one then just be patient as I'm sure a comic inspired design will follow at some point. Or play along and get this one as a holdover for when the one you want does show up.

I wasn't. The X-Men still reign supreme, and they've denied us a single-carded red Daredevil for 11 years.

I get it, and they translated it pretty well... but I hate this deco lol

Don’t get me wrong I have the cel shaded daredevil and that is more than sufficient. I kind of wanted to give that new body a spin though.

I’ll say again that I think the black-on-red is a nice, sharp deco. I’m certainly biased because I owned the original figure and it was probably my first contact with Daredevil, but I *like* the black DD and belt. Very clean. I’ll buy other decos on this body, enthusiastically, but if this was all we were gonna get I’d honestly be satisfied.

I've never been into Daredevil personally. Nothing against the character, just never got into him. I think the black logo looks pretty sharp and I never liked the red on red he usually has (though it's better than the yellow outfit).

 

[NORM]

I've always loved how sleek the monochrome of Daredevil's costume is. For a dude with no sight, he has an impressive visual presence. Simple, but recognizable and effective. Black costume with red boots/gloves is also a great look for him. This Secret Wars homage is fine, but the DD could be more subtle. Daredevil was my evergreen book when I was reading floppies. If my pull list was reduced to a single title, Daredevil would be it.

Count me as one of the fans of the Secret Wars homage as well. I didn't like how hard his logo to see on the 3 pack figure. They fixed that with the cel shaded DD, but I couldn't stand how he looked in my display with all the non-cel shaded people. I have the Mafex now for the classic comic rep in my display, and I couldn't imagine being more satisfied with a DD figure. He's fantastic AND I can clearly see his logo.

But this new one is hitting my buttons for some reason and I just had to place an order, even though I'm not sure if he'll ever make it to a shelf. Lol why do I do this? Heavy nostalgia for the OG figure and since the comic was so great I guess..

Likewise. Generally, street-level characters aren’t my cuppa. I’m perfectly fine with this upcoming figure.

Also that Mafex daredevil looks like a cross between Lee Weeks and David Mazzuchelli which is chefs kiss. Also it weirdly reminds me of the unreleased Daredevil video game that was supposed to come out in 2004

If a few years go by and we inexplicably don't get a regular DD on this new body, I'll remove the black lines on the gloves and boots on this release and just... begrudgingly deal with it.
