ML Mini Comic wave

I'm guessing Rom is online-only for Target, but that could be wrong. I do know that he's listed on their web site, but he shows as not being in any local stores. Usually that means it's an online-only member of the wave.
I think Target's online inventory is defunct or intentionally obscured. Around three weeks ago, I secured my Savage Land Professor X after calling and having someone run the DPCI. this was despite the the webstie/App having him listed as out of stock and unavailable for pick-up at any of the stores in the area.
I checked online a few days later and his listing was gone entirely.
On Monday I wandered through that same store and there were around 8 to 10 on the pegs. When I got home, I ran a search and his listing was back on the website/App, but it said and still says out of stock/not available for pick-up. Plus, it had/still has the option to search local stores' inventory disabled.
Weird.

I think ROM is selling also just because he's a cool toy. I sure didn't know who he was before this release, and I just bought it for a fun action figure.
I can only speak for myself, but I get excited when there's a groundswell of support for a niche character and they get made. Those figures always tempt me, regardless of how familiar (or more likely unfamiliar) I was with the character.

Found Ultimate Iron Man and Banshee at Target today, and had a bit of a nostalgic moment; the old Hasbro Annihilus wave figures were some of the very first Marvel Legends I ever got. I had everyone minus Hulk and Hercules back then; that Emma Frost was my default Emma for quite a while. I remember being really enamored with Ultimate Iron Man back in the day, for whatever reason, even though I didn't really know much about the character. Hard to believe there was ever a time when Iron Man wasn't really that well known to the general public.

Anywho, I left Iron Man on the pegs this time, but I did pick up Banshee. Been on an X-Men kick ever since 97 (the show and the literal year) :ROFLMAO: , and I wanted him in the display. The wings don't bother me too too much- I'll probably keep them fanned out most of the time too; I do recall seeing a couple little fixes over the last week or so, but I can't for the life of me remember what they were or where I saw them. He's never been a favorite, per se, so I'm not all that worked up over it.

I think the mini comic is a cute little gimmick. Not anything I need, per se, but I wouldn't mind if they continued it in some way, like McFarlane and their trading cards. If nothing else, it makes a fun accessory for other figures.

Target's inventory control has stunk for about three years now...shoulda known better than to trust anything their web site says.

If you comes across those fixes again, let us know! I'm kinda okay with them like they are because of the pose mine is in but I wouldn't mind fixing them so he looks better in more poses than that one.

In @RoboDon'tKnow’s review of the figures, he clipped the excess off the tabs and it made the “wings” lay much nicer against the figure. I plan on doing that myself once I get a pair of side snips.

The hunt just gets tiresome at Target. Their m.o. of ordering solid cases just bites. Sure enough, I went in this morning to find several of Miles and Iron Man only. So less stressful to get them online. I've had the 2 I really wanted (ROM and Banshee) for about 2 weeks now. Target can sit on a tack.

No doubt. I actually rarely hunt anymore as I order through Pulse or BBTS. Most of what I collect is Transformers and pre-order like a kid on his birthday after some Stream reveal. Then I have LooseCollector and fan channel Legends. I just happened be in the neighborhood this past Tuesday and got lucky. It was a fun throwback day to my younger years.

I have been surprised how much I dig this new initiative. I love the comic style packaging and the figures look so good. So many possibilities.

I finally stumbled across these in a Target and it looks like they had received solid cases of Banshee and ROM (is it ROM or Rom? I have no idea, does it stand for something?).

Like I suspected I would, I impulse grabbed one and he does look good. In pictures he has always struck me as kind of lanky and thin but not so much in person for whatever reason.

I haven't opened him yet because I'm out of town on a trip and will do that when I get home.

For no reason I can discern, I picked up Daken today. So that puts me a Norman Osborn Iron Patriot away from a complete Dark Avengers roster. Dammit. 😡
You did it because he was there on the shelf. Same reason I did with ROM. I told myself I wouldn't but deep inside I shamefully knew I eventually would, just like I probably will with Daken too.

(is it ROM or Rom? I have no idea, does it stand for something?)

The Wikipedia article on him says that his original name was COBOL which is a computer programming language, but they went with another computer acronym ROM which stands for read-only memory. So it's just supposed to be some kind of generic computer-y sounding name.

EB Games finally shipped the Miles Morales figures out. I was annoyed that the sets of hands didn't include 2 of either fists or wallcrawling hands - fortunately the last Miles release did from like 2018, and his hands are compatible - just a shade bigger. The red on the glove is a little brighter but not noticeably. I've now got 2 Miles with both fists and wallcrawleys. I'm happy with them. The hips are less of an annoyance in person.
