Mini Comic Wave 2

I see Matt’s physique more like a gymnast.

I generally think MLs are too thin and wiry in general. Real strength training, like guys like Matt would have to do, would make them bigger and thicker. Spidey and speedsters? OK, they can be skinnier. But street fighter guys? Nah. More muscle is needed.
Yes, in the older early comics, Daredevil was drawn as being both taller and bulkier than Spiderman. His "hidden gym" was loaded with strength training gear. When I was a kid, I always thought of Matt being a little older, wiser, and having to work harder to keep up with the rest of the heroes.

Now Bruce Wayne should be REALLY huge. Maybe not Absolute huge, but with all due respect to Neal Adams Batman should be an absolute BEAST, like as muscled-up as he can possibly be while retaining mobility and speed.
Oh gosh yes. I remember the Neal Adams story where he came off a prone position on the floor and nailed Ra's thug with a loaded weight bar.

I love Maleev DD the best, visually, but I do prefer him to be a bit broader.

I'll second Ace in the wiry and skinny legends.

Especially the side view.

I don't really have like a rule as far as toy representation. If you consider Batman I like that hush Batman is thick because that's how Jim Lee drew him. But that's not how the Knightfall Batman should look because that's not how he was drawn then. And I'm not looking for them to be definitive representations of the character, but definitive representations of the art style that I like.

And then every now and then something like that Gamerverse Wolverine comes along, I feel like I'm just not going to be into. But once it's in hand I forgive everything.

DD is my absolute fave, and I think Legends has never quite gotten his build right either - I don't have the new one in hand but I figure he's thicker/bulkier because he's running around in a 1980s sweatsuit and that shit was unflattering on the best bodies on earth, so he should look frumpy and wide. But I also have a bit of an "if I were going to explain this away from a story perspective" thing - DD starts off thicker cos he's his father's son. He's a boxer. Even lean boxers are basically brick shithouses on legs. (Sidebar: I miss boxing, though I'm 99% sure years of punching people is why my eyes are going and my hands hurt in the cold at 48.)

But then Matty starts climbing around on rooftops and fighting ninjas - he's a smart man, he's going to lose bulk and build up flexibility so he's not falling off of buildings in Hell's Kitchen.

Anyway, I like knowing I'll have the three versions - early and thicker, the three-pack Spider-body version who is certainly too thin but I can display as Matty in his most ninja/least boxing years, and I still do love the Bucky Buck body for him as a mid-tier size - that's about as wide across the chest and shoulders I want him, though they'd get $27.99 out of me TOMORROW if they put him on ... maybe something like the body Banshee's on?

Oh, and I like his bearded look from the Zdarsky run A LOT, becuase he's a bit too lean but he was burning the candle at both ends in that run... I look at that figure as a man who cannot consume enough to keep weight on as he's ripping a bloody scar through the heart of New York.

I guess basically I'm saying I don't have a perfect DD yet but I have a collection I really truly enjoy.

Everyone getting theirs earlier and Walmart be pushing mine back to Jan 1. First Daredevil, then a few minutes later, Feral.
Apparently I ordered four of them at Walmart too and just got notice saying they’re delayed til 12/31 also. Totally forgot about that. But I’m sure the reason was the $25 price.

It's now 4 of the 6 items moved back. I expect them all to, only to suddenly ship in 2 weeks.

Walmart has only moved up one pre-order from it's original date in the last year for me, and that was an SW TVC R2-D2 (might have been two years). Everyone had Cover Girl in stock for months and they still stuck to their 11/1 release so I doubt they'll move any of these up, same with X-97.

I haven’t read Man Without Fear, so I don’t know the origins of this look for Murdock. But I already think he looks too bulky under the sweats. He has a very broad torso, broadened by the butterfly joints and shoulders. This is a strange iteration of his Billy club too, just one club with a rope looped through? Not my favorite of the wave. Where does he even go in a display? Who does he display with?
Like alt, he'll be a one-off piece for me. I like Matt enough that I can justify giving him some valuable desk space.
Now Bruce Wayne should be REALLY huge. Maybe not Absolute huge, but with all due respect to Neal Adams Batman should be an absolute BEAST, like as muscled-up as he can possibly be while retaining mobility and speed.
Yep. The new Punisher body would be perfect for Bruce, IMO. I sometimes think about grabbing one to customize into Batman, but it's a bit beyond my skill. Plus, it looks like we're going to get some decent 6" Batman figures over the next few years.
