Discuss Batman '66, The New Adventures of Batman, Super Friends or anything else that is part of the McFarlane's DC Retro line.

Super Friends goes up for preorder on 4/4. Evil Batman and Riddler are Red Platinums, so have fun chasing those.

These look a lot like the figures DC Direct released years ago, so not sure how much I want them (besides Evil Batman). At the same time, I'm wondering if Entertainment Earth will post a whole case that includes the chase figures, like they do with Super Powers and Multiverse, but I think "Red Platinum" means at retailers only, so not sure...

I was at Steel City Con in Pittsburgh today and missed the pre-order for the Super Friends figures. I thought the 4 figures in a bundle would be on sale on MTS but it wasn't, so I'm fine with missing it on there. Later, I realized EE would have the case with the platinum figures included, but it was sold out by the time I checked. I'm sure I'll see them somewhere, most likely Gamestop.

Does anyone know when the next wave of Super Friends goes up for pre-order?

What are the chances we'll get another wave of Batman 66? I know the McFarlane folks said on a panel a few months ago that they've pretty much exhausted the character options for that line. I'm hoping they somehow make a Mad Hatter figure, though. Getting him would make the line feel complete for me.

Hard to know what characters they can make at this point from the license, but I am not optimistic. Mad Hatter seemed likely given they did the Pink Cowl Batman, so surprised if they don't make him, and other lines made Shame. I feel like they could do a minor-tweaked/kit-bashed boxset of some key villains (Catwoman, suited Riddler, Penguin, alt-head of Mr Freeze -Sanders or Wallach) with or without masks or other things.

But I really thought we'd get civilian Bruce and Dick, given they have the unmasked head sculpts.

Has anyone seen pics of the McF SuperFriends next to the DC Direct versions from 20 years ago? I would like to see that in case I can add to the Legion of Doom - scale and look seems like it could blend.

Bolded characters were not part of the 12 figures DC Direct did.

Wave 2 - Superman, Cheetah, Captain Cold, Flash and Toyman.

Wave 3 (Rumored) - Aquaman, Bizzarro, Bizzarro Batman, Brainiac and Zan.

Although not unexpected, still disappointed in no final Batman '66 figures.

I'm pretty sure these new ones will not mix well with the DCD versions. Those were still 7in figures, and these new ones are 6in scale.

That's my concern, but scale creep and different proportions (these look a bit bulkier than the DC Direct) might mean that if they are just slightly shorter they might still seem to be the same scale. As I am mainly interested in the Legion of Doom newbies (Captain Cold, Toyman, Brainiac) and Zan, I might be able to live with it.

DCD was never 7 inch, at least not intentionally. They started at 6” and creeped up to 6.75” near the end. The Super Friends figures are closer to DCUC scale.

Getting to my DCD Super Friends figures to compare to McF is a pain, it requires taking down a sheet of glass, but here is a pic of the DCD figures lined up with various DCUC figures.

Thanks @scottg10!

That picture reminded me that I wished they had done the Wonder Twins, Apache Chief, Black Vulcan and Samurai in a more animated style - hesitated on them and then regretted not getting them.

I would love it if we could get a full 13 member Legion of Doom in animated style.

Wave 2 of The Superfriends have arrived. Why are not more of us talking about these? Honestly, great looking wave. Capture the nostalgia of the show perfectly and the colorful deco display great. Just 1 (or 3 ) more waves pls Todd. I really, really want a Brainiac ......And the Batmobile, Hall of Justice and Legion of Doom HQ!

...For what it's worth - These being true 6" I have them displayed with my DCUC collection and I think they fit right in with the more comic aimed aesthetic.

And I appreciate that they all come with a retro TV remote (y)

I noticed wave 2 has started to hit Walmart & Target. I haven't seen platinum Superman but I'm sure he'll pop up if he's anything like platinum Batman. The regular Batman has been hard to find but I have seen plenty of the villains including the platinum Batman.

I haven’t read the whole thread, but does anyone know if we’re getting a Super Friends-based Wonder Woman?
