McFarlane DC Multiverse

All of this going up for preorder at once on the day of Todd’s toy panel would indicate a massive amount of new reveals Friday afternoon.

Rumor via Bleeding Cool:

Apparently, Rich Johnson believes that Todd is working on figures for DC’s K.O event. Pound of salt btw.

1) Todd would have to have been working on it for a while now.

2) He’d have to have clamped down on rumors. This is the first I’ve heard of it. Even Jayger 101 has nothing on this.

3) Does he even have time considering the license change?

4) Last time Johnson had a toy rumor, it quite literally came to nothing. Knight Terrors never materialized.

Worth mentioning because Snyder views this as the third leg of the trilogy started in Dark Knights Metal. Just without Capullo. Is this how Todd exits? Kinda how he entered.

I read bleeding cool religiously, and I generally like their editorial point of view.

They also have really good sources within the industry, but in my experience, they are not very plugged in on the toy scene.

I really, really, really hope McF is not going to waste time and resources in their final months on bloodied, costumes-slightly-torn versions of characters.

I generally like BC, but his Marvel bias shows. He also says spoilers are destroying the comic industry, yet a day doesn’t go by where he doesn’t post a few. Gotta get them clicks.

But for actual comic news, he’s pretty much the last man standing. Most other comic news sites use a pay wall or you have to “subscribe”. Either way it means giving them your email address so they can ”market” to you. No thanks. Whoever is left wouldn’t dare engage in anything close to journalism. Even comic journalism. Offend the wrong person and its access denied. They won’t even get press releases on time.

The only thing I can think of is that Snyder and Todd are buds now through Capullo. Maybe there’s some assumptions being made. Maybe Snyder has a scoop about toys. Guess we’ll see soon.

There's a litany of things contributing to the American comic industry's demise that we could spend all day on. I occasionally will pick up something solely for the cover art now with no intention of reading it because I can do so online if I want. That said, Jim Lee's Hush2 is delayed, delayed, and then delayed again. I think the September issue is now coming out sometime in January now. The Madureira covers are the only reason I'm picking up this X-Men of Apocalypse rehash, and even that is jumping months. What would be a monthly sales number is now drawn out across 4 months for some of these books, going from selling a product 12 times a year to 3 potentially. It's a wonderful way to run yourself out of business, and this is the DC Comics EIC setting the example. I like some of Snyder's stuff well enough, but if Capullo's not on it I likely wont bother as I enjoy his artwork more.

Yeah, these high profile projects that don’t come out are pretty infuriating. It’s unhelpful to the cause for sure. Lee should’ve completed all pencil art before the green light was given. The second half of Hu2h isn’t coming anytime soon.

The shame of it is that DC is putting out some really good stuff and the only things people seem interested in is the Absolutes.
