McFarlane DC Multiverse

Think of it like this... if there was a big, universe wide crossover book but every character in the book was drawn by a different artist that book would look insane and awful. I want a collection that looks like a big universe wide crossover drawn by Georege Perez or Garcia Lopez or John Byrne... but I want it to look internally consistent for sure.
Yes I prefer a 'DC Universe according to Dick Giordano' approach as well......except when it comes to the Shazam family that we will never get. In that case I want Earth-S by CC Beck.

I have had two run-ins in the last month with Target pulling merchandise out of my hands at the register and I am SO SICK of being treated like a criminal because I tried to purchase merchandise I found *on the shelf*. Way to make me NEVER want to buy a product but the real thing is the managers refuse to even try and then treat me like I'm the bad guy. I complained to corporate both times but fervently after the second time and that was a completely useless waste of my time.
I think the average Target store/department manager and the average collector would both be happy to never set eyes on each other again, but corporate wants our money.

I'm gonna need that Batgirl. I like Batman, I like Batgirl, I like purple.......I can't afford not to get this figure. If I don't buy this figure, it will be the dumbest thing I have ever done!

Thats not true of course. I have done so many dumb things. One that comes to mind is I was once at Myrtle Beach, and there is this place that's called "Alligator Adventure" It has tons of live gators, and gator fossils, and just all sorts of gator-goodness, as well as snakes, tigers, etc. Well, the inside is set up like it's this jungle safari world with all these wooden decks and rope bridges. So, I was standing on this wooden deck. And there were 4 steps down to another huge, wooden deck. Well, instead of using the steps my mind blanked and thought, "Nah, you don't need steps, gravity is a lie" and I just stepped way out, and I missed all the stairs and slammed hard as hell down onto the lower deck. Just slamming into this hard ass wood. The alligators were DYING laughing, and also in full predator mode thinking they could eat me because I was down and hurt.

I was like "shut up you bitch ass half dino's!" But they were just laughing it up. I will not let the alligators mock me again because I did not buy this Batgirl.

I do understand this. But I’ve never been down with the “house style” like Marvel. I don’t understand why it has to be applied to merchandise. I actually liked DCD back in the day with Neal Adams style Hard Traveling Heroes or the Humberto Ramos Impulse and Max Mercury. The Ross Kingdom Come figures were beautiful but stiff. It was pretty fun to me.

I like Red Tornado. I like Blackfire, but wish she had a cape. I'm not crazy about Batgirl being painted the purple & yellow tv colors. Since I don't want all 3, I guess I'll wait until they are at a Walmart.

They finally make a bronze age Superman without the black line around the S on his chest and they Jokerize him. I believe the things they do to these figures are intentional.

It sucks that this keeps happening to you. When I worked at Toys R Us, I would apologize profusely if something was shelved before street date, and always stick the would-be buyer's name and number on the item so they could come back and get it on the day. I even let them ring up another item of the same value if they pitched a fit, aware that it would screw up our inventory. I don't see why Target employees would be a-holes when they don't have to be.

I’m surprised Target didn’t do something similar in this instance because they are partnered with Shipto in the event that he could have the item sent to him from the store on that specific date. At least as a way of correcting the matter. But to treat him like a criminal is unacceptable by any measure.

Nope... never seen her.

My Walmart still has 3 on the shelf. Let me know if you want me to pick one up for you. Cost + shipping.

I’m pretty glad that I’m not preordering any new reveals except Red Tornado. My wallet could use a break. Love the color scheme and cape on Red Tornado compared to the original. Another old McFarlane figure for the sale pile.

All of my displays are open rather than enclosed and I've learned the hard way that soft goods don't last terribly long if not enclosed, or at least get to the point where they look pretty terrible within a couple of years. I'm sure that the quality of the fabric impacts that though as well. I'm not expecting that McF is using high quality. I don't know because I've chosen not to open any of their figures that I've bought with soft goods mostly for that reason.
I run everything open on shelves. And things regularly cycle to my desk. I've never had a problem with soft goods except for the Mezco regular contemporary Batman (Sovereign?) randomly turned pink on my shelf. I thought it had a pink underbody and the bodysuit was just wearing thin after a year, but it was the actual dye job turning pink.

Never exposed to sunlight. I don't smoke. My cats are not super shedding. I even keep the windows open cuz I love fresh air. Never had an issue with any other mezco, hot toy, custom cape, whatever. But the strange thing was I was able to find other people in collector groups that also had that exact Batman turn pink.

But I've never actually solved it. I sold it to someone who was unable to see it.

What issues have you run into with soft goods?

Depending on your taste, looks like Friday could be very expensive:

3 Digital wave figures (Platinums unknown)

Animated Man-Bat

2 Mortal Kombat figures

2 Mortal Kombat 2- packs

Plus several Wal Mart exclusives for their Fall Collector-Con.

Ouch.

Todd also still has preorder dates for 10/9/25 and 10/15/25. Items unknown.

I received my Rebrith Batmobile and Batman today. They're fine, but not terribly exciting. I think that the only Batmobile left to get will be the sized Batman '66 version.

What was exciting was that McFarlane Toy Store sent me a surprise Darkstar (regular) along with my order due to it's packaging being beat up. That was a very nice surprise. I'm always happy to get another army builder figure! Thanks, MTS!

I'm planning on buying Batgirl and Blackfire but will probably pass on Tornado this week. I'll get the regular MK Raiden and Reptile but skip on the 2-packs. I've got 10 Marvel Legends figures that I'll be pre-ordering this week and a bunch of stuff form the Walmart Collector Con. It's going to be a very busy week!

Wasn’t planning on it, but I found and bought classic Deathstroke today. I saw the variant as well, but I left it there. The eye is looking a little toward the left, but you can’t notice it unless you’re holding the figure right in front of your face.

Work has me tied up each Friday at the time Todd drops his stuff. I made the heavens part on the Friday the Batman Returns stuff dropped and was able to be online at the exact second (which, in some cases was still not fast enough), but there's no chance I will be free at the drop time this Friday. Luckily I'm not seeing anything I absolutely need as of right now. If I see purple Batgirl in the wild I might bite but that buck has worn out its welcome.

Also.....I really hope I can get Shreck. I remain optimistic. Strangely optimistic.
