McFarlane DC Multiverse

I like that Batigrl but just pre-ordered the classic version a couple of weeks ago for Batman day and already have the original 3 Jokers version. I'll probably still get it. I'll almost certainly buy Blackfire even though I have the Collector's Edition variant of Starfire. I think that I actually like the Gold Label Red Tornado better that comes with the Tornado like stand that this phygital one lacks, so will likely pass on that one. There seems to be a whole lot of stuff for this Walmart Collector's Con!

My favorite Babs/Batgirl will always be the seminal FA black and yellow look. Three Jokers is as close as we’ve gotten so far. No interest in blue gray or purple Batgirl.

Blackfire is a definite upgrade. As is Red Tornado with the fabric cape. Platinums will be interesting if there are any. Sometimes these Digital waves have them. Sometimes they don’t. Earth 2 Red Tornado circa 1968 would be perfect.

Gotcha. I didn’t like ‘em at first. But they grew on me. They are sort of freeing IMO.

At least there are options. Personally can’t wait for the Spectre upgrade in the 2-pack with Atom Smasher.

All of my displays are open rather than enclosed and I've learned the hard way that soft goods don't last terribly long if not enclosed, or at least get to the point where they look pretty terrible within a couple of years. I'm sure that the quality of the fabric impacts that though as well. I'm not expecting that McF is using high quality. I don't know because I've chosen not to open any of their figures that I've bought with soft goods mostly for that reason.

She's got the Jean Grey cowl! :)

I made the decision to sell Blackfire a day or two before the new one got announced, but she's in her box in the back of the shelf and I still haven't made the effort to get her out. It's at least seven figures back and... ugh.

Todd is certainly making a concerted effort to clear the deck before NYCC. Of what we know about that’s left for preorder is just Static, supposed to be an MTS exclusive, and Atom Smasher/Spectre. Zatanna is now in the next Collector wave.

This would indicate a ginormous batch of announcements. Which I would’ve said was pretty certain before the license change. Could be we’re winding down. I hope not. I’d like no brakes and no guard rails for the next nine months. Blow it out. Blow it up. Make Mattel try harder.

DC is a tapestry woven over decades by thousands of people. Jack Kirby stands next to Alex Ross at the loom. Neal Adams, George Perez, and Greg Capullo have all stood there at one time or another. Simon Bisley and Bill Sienkiewicz too and so many more. So why do action figures all have to look the same?

Think of it like this... if there was a big, universe wide crossover book but every character in the book was drawn by a different artist that book would look insane and awful. I want a collection that looks like a big universe wide crossover drawn by Georege Perez or Garcia Lopez or John Byrne... but I want it to look internally consistent for sure.
