McFarlane DC Multiverse

That's odd. They're still showing up as 35 for me. You're looking on the MTS store?

But in general, yeah- I know those promotional emails are scheduled in advance most of the time, so there's no way to know how available the thing will be come release, but it always seems to happen, and always makes me chuckle and shake my head.
Yes, it was MTS itself. I thought it bizarre also. Batman , Catwoman, and Penguin(s) are all showing up as $48.22 for me still. I saved all my $20 coupon codes just for today, which I think you can only use one per order. Amounts to basically free shipping more or less in the long run. Thankfully there's not too much else in my "must have" column from Todd, but I'm sure he'll sneak in some ones I take a liking to before it's all over.

I really feel like I'm kind of alone on my hopes for post McFarlane DC, but because I wasn't collecting figures AT ALL during the Mattel days, my DC collection is sad several little attempts at core collections from Icons and Essentials (both of which lines made character choices I LOVED but died on the vine) and then the weird love/hate relationship I have with McFarlane. Like there's stuff I have from him I am blown away by but every other release I'm like fuck this guy and his entire design/distribution process.

So basically my hope, and it's been my hope since I bought my first Marvel Legend and wanted a DC line to match it is... I want the characters, man. I want a consistent, compatible, well-engineered, basic b*tch version of the Justice League and Justice Society and Legion of Doom and Rogues Galleries. And I do wonder if I'm a complete outlier or if there's a quiet group of new collectors who came up post-Mattel just... looking for a line that makes DC figures the same way every time and makes them uncomplicated to buy.

I've already bought a few Mortal Kombat figures so I'm full of sh*t if I say I'm swearing off McFarlane, but between the Witcher and DC and Vox Machina and Airbender and all those other licenses, I'm just kinda tired of how this company makes it harder than it has to be. Like I don't want to pay 60 dollars for Fallout Lucy knowing there's a 50/50 chance he won't even make all of the other leads. Or like... dude, you made rad penguins. Don't make it impossible to buy rad penguins, man. I'm gonna go pay almost double for Steve Trevor from someone who just got lucky enough to live near one of the six Walmarts who got any.

I don’t anticipate Mattel going this deep anytime soon, if ever.
This part.

I’m definitely not post-Mattel, but yeah I want this. Just really good toys, straight up. Everything you said. Yeah.

I can't be the only one who feels like Hasbro and McFarlane pulled up and offered me a ride, passed me around for 4 hrs and then threw me out of a moving vehicle without my purse.
Quote of the day and I 100% agree. The ONLY reason I entered today’s merry go round was Batman returns. I have missed out on figures in the past - page punchers Shazam for instance and that made me nervous - thanks to kind folks like yourself posting links I was able to secure everything but equally feel foolish for enabling these shananigans. Expensive day but I had to have these, favorite Batman movie and I am not a live action collector. Now if only we could get the red triangle circus gang three pack……

I feel like I've been chasing this from DC since I got into adult collecting. Marvel / Hasbro c*cks things up all the time, but I feel like I've got a good consistent lineup there (and with other lines I love, Star Wars, TMNT, bunch of other stuff) but DC I've got a bunch of boxes of stuff that doesn't feel right together. That's all I want. Even when Todd's killing it with design each one feels like a unique art piece, not a great toy. Like I've got three Constantines, maybe four? And none of them look right next a Zatanna. That kind of thing. Just bums me out.

Glad you got everything you wanted. I too would not have jumped through this many hoops (circus references not withstanding) had it not been something I truly want. I would not be surprised if there's a bit more hullabaloo in the making and an 89 Joker is likely part of that. Being privately owned and stubborn as Todd is (we're talking about a guy who buys game baseballs for 3 million dollars just to get MLB to notice his toys), I think if anyone's going to throw down cash and make it happen it's going to be him not a corporation with shareholder preoccupation.

I have every Mattel DC figure and yet I still want exactly what you describe.

I desperately hope they do not continue in 7 inch and instead make something similar to Legends in size.

I do wonder if McFarlane will be allowed to continue figures under the DC Direct label... but even if he is I feel certain they will only be available at comic and specialty shops the same as pre-McFarlane DC Direct and Marvel Select.

@RichardSimmonsRobot, I think it's showing you prices in Canadian $. MTS does this to me all the time randomly. There's a toggle in the top right hand corner of the screen. It did this to me yesterday after I added stuff to my cart. I have no idea why. I live in Iowa. You just have to switch it back to USD.

Listen, I've bought a ton of McFarlane stuff and there are figures I truly love, but there are 4 things that I HATE about this line:

1) 7-inch scale. I'll never forgive McF for this change. I've been sour about it since Day 1 and I've never gotten over it. Although scale doesn't really seem to register for Todd, in general.

2) Pinned joints. It's fucking 2025, Todd.

3) Soft goods increased usage. For those of us without enclosed displays these soft goods basically have to be thrown away in 24-36 months.

4) Chase figures. So juvenile. Brick and mortar toy buying is dead and it stopped being fun hunting stuff at retail 20 years ago.

For the number of times I've seen people push DC to abandon 7 inch scale (and I agree - that short lived Icons line was a little small for 1/12 but damned near the perfect scale for me - I wonder if they EVER notice how much of a push there is for slightly smaller figures. Is there a quiet majority we never hear from who just love 7 inch scale? I've started to wonder if it's a deliberate thing to differentiate from other lines. (Off topic but this is a McFarlane thread - like I'm baffled why he's doing 5 inch walking dead figures. Why not make them scale with your own other lines so people can display them together? I'd totally throw Rick Grimes and James Gordon on a shelf together!)

FWIW, I can practically promise you that whatever grudges you have against Todd, you will at some point develop different grudges against Mattel. Perhaps even some of the same ones.

DC has had four toy master license changes since 2000. Plus DCD running parallel. Marvel has had one. With a far smaller, more limited Marvel Select running parallel. Maybe the problem is DC itself.

As far as I remember Todd deliberately chose 7 inches to differntiate from Mattel - and I assume to not have people sit out releases and only buy stuff they didn't already have. Mattel could shift back for the same reason.

Considering how long DST was in business, the amount of stuff NECA sells, all of the different lines Todd does/did, Nacelle, the 3rd party and imports done in 7" - yes, obviously there's a big freaking bunch of people who prefer the bigger scale. It's not like someone's making us buy those toys.

I'm always baffled when 6" collectors with the same mindset as yours show up in "our" treads, thinking that the scale they collect is the only legit one.
