McFarlane DC Multiverse

Giving Penguin a normal hand is definitely a choice. Not a good one but a choice. Let's hope that he'll come with an extra left flipper. Other than that he's quite nice, the coat looks good.

Batman is nice too, like how they ended up giving him the thick neck and articulated it at the base.
Honestly, if the hands situation does get completely botched, I'm going to break out the sculpy..

Yeah, better idea to put the neck joint at the base of you HAVE to have one. It broke up the sculpt on the 89 version too badly.

Catwoman will be mine - hopefully, if Todd lets me.

Random question: have there been rumors of an Absolute Superman? I just discovered this outfit and it's purty.

This custom Archangel has a head partially inspired by a 3D print of Absolute Superman but the hair isn't a match to what I could find of that file, and I'm trying to find out where this hair came from because I want it for my Warren! But also - that's a nice Supes look.

Looking more at Max, I really hope he is quickly repainted into a Golden Age/First Appearance Joker.

I might have a bit of a problem here. See, Todd's stuff usually goes up for preorder at 10am central (my time). On Fridays at that time I am taking my 4th graders to all-school Mass. I have little hope that the three standard figures will last the 60 minutes let alone the Schreck red platinum.

If something I really want drops at a time when I'm in the classroom I can have kids do silent reading and quick hop online for 2 minutes. But to bring kids over to the chapel and get them settled, I have to leave like 10 minutes before. This isn't impossible, but I'm going to have to get resourceful. I have a couple of ideas. We'll see how this plays out.......

Let me just say by way of observation that this is the highest concentration of Bat related figures I can recall going up for preorder in the space of 72 hours. Thirteenth figures total, a dozen of which are Bat connected. Kinda overkill ain’t it?

By the same token, reviewing the rest of the leaks we have, there are only two other Bat characters coming up. Crisis Joker and Prof. Pyg. But no other DC character or property comes close to this level of attention. Even after six years. I sorta thought that this was over. Maybe it’s losing the license. Maybe it’s always been the plan. But I feel a little left out anyway.

I'm mostly looking at it as a simultaneous kick in the crotch for my wallet and a 6-9 month bender where the brakes have given out on my McFarlane budget. If I can close the book on all my major Bat-related wants, a couple more Green Lantern villains for diversity-sake, and a better classic Wonder Woman and Flash I'll take what I can get. I look at it as a year from now my McFarlane budget will be near zero because I'm not heavy on Spawn or Mortal Kombat, Avatar, or whatever videogame/anime property he's got going. Maybe the occassional Marvel statue here and there but even that seems rare.

If we could get a Batman 89 line with single packed Alfred a plain clothes Keaton and the rest I'd consider it a grand success.

I also expect the wheels to come off over the next several months in terms of budget. But in all likelihood, my days of collecting figures will be over when Todd is done. Trouble is, I don’t wanna be done. But McFarlane/DC in the 7” scale is all I buy. Even then, I’m not remotely a completist. Mattel will have to keep the 7” scale and do something extraordinary on top of that.

With only a few months left, I was kinda hoping for more than a Bat blowout.

FWIW, the balance of the current reveals is:

Jack Knight/Starman
Zatanna/Detective Chimp
Static Shock

Jack is a retail only Red Platinum. Canadian stores are looking good for him.

Preorder dates for the others are unknown. Static is supposed to be a MTS Gold Label exclusive. Zatanna is now supposed to be in the next Collectors Edition wave, leaving Detective Chimp on the outs.

The balance of the leaks we know of is:

Atom Smasher/Spectre 2-pack
Zero Hour Superman
Crisis Joker
Ice
Rocket Red
Superman/Authority
Wally Flash
Elongated Man
Cosmic Boy
Blackhawk
Prof. Pyg
Barry Flash
Jay Flash
Hal Jordan
Jessica Cruz

None of these are “official” yet. Plenty of red meat. Waiting impatiently for NYCC.

I received my Mr. Bones & Obsidian figures today. I had a strange feeling something was going to go wrong with my order. I ordered 1 Mr. Bones & 2 Obsidian figures. I received 1 Obsidian & 2 Mr. Bones figures. I emailed MTS customer support right away and sent pictures of the products & package. Hopefully this gets resolved quickly. I haven't had many problems with MTS but they have taken care of the problems.

Batman Returns - Batman, Catwoman & Penguin available pretty much anywhere.
Batman Returns - Max Shreck & Penguin with Duck available at Gamestop and then Max available at Target & Walmart
Batman Returns - Penguin Commandos available at McFalrane Toys Store

It doesn't look easy if you want everything but I'm sure there are websites that might have everything.

That is so needlessly complicated. But thanks for the sum up.

I was tempted to just buy this whole wave, but since that's not an option, I'll probably just stick to Catwoman. Again, IF Todd lets me.

Of course the Penguin Commandos are a McFarlane Toys Store exclusive. If nothing else, hopefully that means there'll be plenty and they'll be easy to get, but that's definitely one people will probably grab multiple of, so I hope they don't sell out too quickly. Todd knew we've all been wanting Batman Returns figures for ages, but he couldn't make it too easy for us!

Detective Chimp can still be with Zatanna. Krypto was with Superman in a collectors edition pack.

I certainly hope so. But my impression is that DT is a little bigger with more articulation plus an extra head. And in the immortal words of “Toy Guru”, “may not cost out”.

A $60.00 Elite figure would’ve covered his cost. A $35.00 Collector Edition figure may not. It’ll be an enormous disappointment if this line winds up and Detective Chimp remains unproduced.
