McFarlane DC Multiverse

Zatanna, Black Canary, Barda, classic Harley, classic Poison Ivy & classic Cheetah all seem pretty essential women to get.
I'm prepared to live with what we got in the event that Todd doesn't do specific versions. Meaning, if we don't get a "classic" Harley or a "classic" Poison Ivy, I can live with the animated Harley and the B&R Ivy just fine. If we never get a Nicholson Joker, I'm going to sub in Arkham Joker (which I love and has a bit of Nicholson in the eyes and hairline).

And I know why this is my attitude. It's because my girls like playing with my animated Harley, B&R Ivy and Mr. Freeze, Nolan Catwoman, Arkham Joker, comic book Bane and come up with wacky stories about putting Forever Riddler and Two-Face in their doll dresses. And I don't sit there and say, "No, no, no, girls, these characters are actually all from different continuities", I just go with it. I do a Tom Hardy Bane voice with comic book Bane and the girls laugh. It's a joy-filled time and I'm glad I have the figures I have.

Really hoping the second try at Static turns out better tjan tje first Static Todd released. That figure was my biggest disappointment in a line that frequently diappointed me. Using the name Static Shock has me concerned it might be the animated series version. But I'm hoping a new Static figure will be as good as the revent Obsidian and Mr. Bones I just got.

Mine is Tim Drake Robin. Mattel biffed it with his 90's look and Todd made him as tall and as buff as Batman. Tim just keeps getting done dirty.

Second place goes to Power Girl and her ridiculous height. An easily avoidable issue had they cared even a little bit.

This. Was really looking forward to finally getting a good, classic Tim Drake, but it seems it’s just not meant to be.

Those are both tremendous disappointments... but Tim Drake has had solid figures in the past and will have figures in the future... Power Girl was actually a decent figure just done at a stupidly out of scale size.

But for me Static doesn't get many shots at a figure so I was super hopeful and so very letdown.

So... Jade just showed up as available on Wal Mart.com for $24.97. Its only available for in store pick up, but hey I can finally have a Jade at normal price. Hizzah.

And of course... thankfully before I got in the car, Wal Mart emailed me with their "nevermind, the item is unavailable' message. Sigh. I knew it was too good to be true.

I've lost track of how many times Walmart.com has done this to me with all of Jade, James Gordon and SA Bizarro. They show as in stock, I order and then I get a couple of delayed messages and a cancellation. It's based upon local inventory showing in the system and then someone looks for it and realizes that they don't really have it (or doesn't know where it is). They need to go back to walmart.com being for shipping only from a warehouse only (but that's not going to happen because of how many people buy groceries online for pickup/delivery now).

I had some figures piling up unopened, Eradicator, Superboy, and Stephanie Batgirl, so I thought I'd get to it.

Eradicator and Superboy.......sigh.......I can only say "mid" to both of them. This my not be fair because unfortunately for them, Cyborg Superman is one of McFarlane's best figures in the entire line, but then these ARE just cheep and easy redecos, so it's to be expected. Both offered no surprises. Never been a huge fan of the infected buck for Superman/Eradicator. He has no neck his face looks a bit weird. I appreciate that they tried something new with the cape but it's such specific pose that I wish there was another option (wired soft goods). Todd gave Superboy a new belt overlay and didn't lift a finger beyond that. The boots and straps on the legs and wrists are all tampo, zero new sculpted detail in the places where it would be called for. No jacket no shades. A straight up "repaint it resell it" release in the grand tradition of Hasbro Marvel Legends. The colors are nice and I guess they picked the best preexisting buck they could (though it's still far from perfect). I didn't open Stephanie yet but again, like the above, she's a figure we've seen before, just painted different. I'm glad for the wired hood and cape......we'll see about her.

I've been enjoying the McFarlane stuff overall lately, these three are a little detour to Mid-ville.

Also, "poor me" post:

I dragged my feet on Mr. Bones, he stuck around for a while but is gone now. If anyone got an extra I'd be interested.

Check Etsy as folks sell 3d printed neck pegs of different lengths (usually sold as a set) and you can resolve Eradicator's neck pretty easily. His flared jaw is due to his head being mostly hollow and soft plastic, so it bulges out because it's jammed so far down on the neck. The single directional rubber cape is my main complaint with Eradicator, and I'm not so big on the glasses / face.

Ebay is your best bet for the Superboy jacket. I'm come to accept the glasses will be more difficult to source.

Hello all. Just being transparent, it’s Gardner Grayle/Tommy Tomorrow. Without going deep into details, I’ve acquired a new phone and new email. Starting fresh as it were. Kinda late in life, but whatever. I thought a new, but related handle was appropriate. Now onto business…

Got Bones and Obsidian today. How great are these two? Obsidian fills out the JSA, and Bones is…a figure I never thought I’d see. Both underscore to me just how crucial a fabric cape would’ve been to Mr. Miracle. But we ain’t getting a do over anytime soon.

Classic Deathstroke and Mirror Master 2 are en route. Can’t wait.

Also, I’m not a customizer or kit basher, but how many of you are gonna try to put the Mr. Bones head on the movie Lex suit body? Add a couple of appropriate gloved hands and it’s good to go. That Bones head is nearly as good as the Hank Henshaw Cyborg Superman head sculpt.
