McFarlane DC Multiverse

I mean you can definitely order online but when it comes to collector figures like the Hammond collection it’s like finding a needle in a haystack. Take the recent spinosaurus for example. Usually Target throws only a couple units up at a time and they can sell out within seconds. And your luck won’t get better with in store purchases. Mattel has a bad habit of sharing their DCPI codes for Target amongst either a common wave or it’s been recycled from other items in Target’s inventory. Take my recent curbside pickup orders from example. I went to Target to purchase the Hammond collection allosaurus and they brought out discount Halloween decorations after tracking down the DCPI number

Wonder Woman, Steve, Batwing, and Troika all shipped just now for me from EB.

I was able to do Steph and NML as pick ups, so we'll see what happens Saturday.

Why can't I just order them online? This is a legit question, not sarcasm.

As someone who tries to give Mattel money, even online availability is sketchy and inconsistent. I have some smaller store channels, but you gotta be first come, first serve the day they put it up, and even then they have limited quantities.

I don't know Why. I just know the demand outstrips how Mattel makes them available.

Jada often does reissues and restocks. Even Hasbro reissues things on a slower timeline.

You can order them online. Hopefully they won’t have many “only in physical stores” exclusives because the physical stores don’t care.

That is the lie that McFarlane keeps telling, but sorry, I don't buy it. If they can put out Grid as a mass release Collector's Edition, they can definitely find a better way to release Jade, The Question or Steve Trevor. This is just McFarlane feeding into the hype/chase mentality, nothing more. I get paying extra for a character you want, but don't buy into narrative that this is the way it has to be.
Everyone knows if you find it hard to sell something in large numbers; the best thing to do is sell even fewer numbers than the item’s already modest demand.

McFarlane Toys SDCC panel is 7/25/25 at 1:00 PM Pacific time. 4:00 on the East Coast. Two days after the next episode of McFarlane Toys TV on 7/23/25. And SDCC Preview Night. I do expect Todd to release some bangers on the way out. Should be interesting.

Absolute Trinity anyone?

I've definitely lost the thread on how to find Steve Trevor - I know he's a chase but is he one of those "only get him in a case" chases or "give it a month and BBTS might get him" chase?

Unrelated, I have Cowboy Batman sitting all alone in my POL and I find myself looking for figures I never picked up earlier to buy and ship with him. With the movie out I realized I never got green armor Lex or the standard Mr. Terrific, and completely missed that there was a (kind of?) classic Jay Garrick out there. Trying to just get a few gaps filled but there's so many random figures I missed. I could've sworn I ran down a Mr. Freeze but I think I must've had him in my cart and never hit buy last year.

Standard (comic) Mr. Terrific is the platinum variant. Regular release was his New 52 with the red face print that he had for a total of 9 issues. I'm... kind of salty about it.

Earlier in the week, some Canadian outlets had Trevor for sale individually for about 50 bucks and quickly sold out. To preorder him in the States you’ll need to buy a case. At EE, Trevor is one per case. Cases are sold out. I would guess that this wave starts showing up soon at retail. And I don’t think Trevor will be a hot ticket item like Platinum Hawkgirl. I’ve already perused ebay. 65 bucks delivered if I wanted to order from China.

Thanks for the info, Gardner - I'm not impatient to get him so much as I just don't want to miss him ENTIRELY, so I'll tap the breaks and see if he starts showing up more frequently.

Chooch, thanks for the reminder about that - I think that's why I didn't buy him at the time, I was miffed about the platinum chase thing. I do want one version of him for the collection though so I'm gonna try to find one at a decent price, even if it's the red paint one.

I got an email on Friday from MTS saying that my BVS Alfred figures has shipped (label made so far). I ordered it in April, around the same time I ordered the Eradicator figure, and it should have been delivered in May. I hope I get an email about the Eradicator soon.

Lots of activity in the two weeks leading to SDCC.

7/15/25 Two unknown items go up for preorder.

7/16/25 One unknown item up for preorder.

7/17/25 CE Merlyn and Darkstar up for preorder. Platinums unknown.

7/21, 22, 23/25 Three separate unknown items go up for preorder.

7/23/25 Should be the next episode of McFarlane Toys TV with promises of massive new announcements.

7/23/25 Is SDCC preview night.

7/25/25 at 1:00 PM Pacific time is the McFarlane Toy panel.

In addition, Wal Mart Collector Con is running during SDCC. I wonder if Todd has anything planned?

I also expect some formal announcement on Sandman and Mr. Miracle from Target within the SDCC 2025 time frame.

Whew.

I'm guessing some announcement on the Batman Returns wave has to be in there somewhere, right?

I’d assume so. The preorder dates come from The Entertainment Earth “Drop Zone” tab.

Funny thing is McFarlane DC figures were very easy to find for the first few years after they came out. It only became a pain in the ass when Todd started with the Platinum only exclusives. And by that I mean the figures that are only Platinums and don't have a "regular" version as well. I believe the first one was The Question (but I could be mistaken). That started to whole stupid trend with the Platinums, and Red Platinums and etc. that you can only buy at brick and mortar stores. (If you get lucky enough to find them).

It really sucks when they do it with a character like Steve Trevor who is clearly meant to be a companion piece to the Golden Age Wonder Woman. I really don't understand why Todd doesn't want our money. If he made all those Platinums available to order online he'd sell twice as many of them. But I guess when you have f*ck you money like Todd does, you can pretty much do what you want.
