McFarlane DC Multiverse

That is definitely pro wrestler Batman in lieu of Olympic gymnast Batman.
Nah, that’s no steroid build.
It’s a lot of muscle, yes, but if anything it’s more realistic than he’s usually drawn, physique-wise, no unrealistic “cut”, just “this guy lifts” big muscles.
Like I’m no bodybuilder nor remotely a pro wrestler, but this isn’t that far off from what I’d look like in a Batsuit if I was properly dehydrated and pumped. Just a “big guy” who works out. A guy with this build could totally do all kinds of acrobatic shit, certainly he could throw kicks above his head and fight like a heavyweight boxer/MMA fighter.

I guess pro wrestler from when I was a kid since I so rarely watch now.

Bunch of former football players who got too old or busted up to play anymore. Big athletic dudes who didn’t “juice” but may have still had anger issues. Lots of beer guts who could still bench at least their own body weight since they still had to throw each other around.

I still sometimes miss the “wrastlin” over sports entertainment to this day.

But yeah, I get it. Boxer/MMA fighters. Still need that agility.

Ah, so there's the fine print- you have to pre-order IN STORE, not online. Wonder if that means when the store opens or when the rest of them go up for sale around 1 or so. And wonder if it's every store, or just certain ones.

Sigh. I hate how complicated he makes it sometimes.
I tried that. For the GA Batman. The two young ladies working that day didn’t have a clue of what I was talking about. One of them was a manager.

Went back about a week later and there he was on the shelf.

I was in GameStop today and they had the Platinum Golden Age Batman still. I have passed on this figure multiple times because they always have $34.99 on it. But today, they had them for $27.99.

So finally, I have Golden Age Platinum Batman.

I have 2 GameStops I can easily get to- one at the mall where the people there are snippy and hate their job, or the one in the city, where the guys there seem like they're one bad customer experience away from jumping in front of a train. And yeah, neither of them are gonna know what the heck I'm talking about. 😅

In fact, I think the one in the city doesn't take pre-orders for figures anymore; I remember hearing the manager say they never know that they're gonna get. I was in the other day and they'd just gotten in like 5 of the Gaming Greats General Grievous figures from a couple years ago. Could be wrong, but I don't think that figure got a new production run or anything. They still have McFarlane Avatar figures from however many years ago on the shelf too.

I preordered the last three Red Platinums drops in store, a day or two after the designated date, and had mostly no issues, others than the marked up pricing they are now charging on Plats.

They called for the first two orders (2 figures each) when they came in, no issue.

For the last order (the three Super Friends figures), I went in to the store because I was suspicious when I heard other GameStops were receiving them and I found Batman on the shelf. I questioned the clerk (in a respectful manner) and they apologized for no one calling. They also had Superman in the back (not logged into the system yet) and they did call when Wonder Woman came in the following week.

Your experience may vary by store, but my advice:
  • If you have an image of some else’s preorder receipt (someone inevitably posts one), that is the easiest way to go. Last time I just pulled up the image and handed them my phone.
  • Don’t pay full price, just leave the $5 per figure deposit. Less risk if GS flakes on you.
  • Keep an eye out online and if you see others are receiving theirs, check with your store. My store had a pretty detailed fulfillment status on each item I preordered.
  • If you run across the figure at Target or Walmart in the mean time, grab it just in case. You can always return it or help out someone else if once GS fulfills your order.
I do look forward to spending much less time at GameStop when McFarlane loses the license.
