McFarlane DC Multiverse

Man, I hate that the Ivy is Platinum. I want that one too. I assume the regular edition she has a human flesh tone, and not green? I want that Wonder Woman too. The Hawkgirl they show that's Platinum is a pass for me. I'll have to see what the regular version looks like.

Any idea when these might go up for pre order?
I think I'd like SOME version of that Ivy, since Ivy is one of the last characters I want before the line winds up. I don't think I'm picky at this point anymore unless the other version has some weird facial expression or something.

Definitely gotta have Ivy. You, me, all of us. Earth as a people need Ivy figures in their lives. I'm so glad we are getting her, Black Mask, Mad Hatter, and Ra's before the line wraps up. I think there are other Ivy's coming as well that aren't Collector's Edition.

But I really like that all green Ivy. I just hope I can find one since she is Platinum. But pretty much everything Batman related I have bought and will buy until McF calls her quits.

Just got back from Supergirl.

I grabbed Krem, Lobo and Deluxe Supergirl during the Target sale last week in case I needed them after seeing the movie.

I think I'm good with just trenchcoat Supergirl, and I'll put her with the figures from last year's movie. It's ridiculous that once again the second-billed character in a Supermovie doesn't get made simply because she's female.

Is that the reason though? McFarlane has lost the license, Kara and Lobo are easy choices, but he's (seemingly) not even making Lanterns figures. If he's not making Hal & John I can understand not making Ruthye. Even Krem feels more like "obligatory villain figure" than anything else.

We didn't get Hawkgirl or Guy last year. Yes, Ruthye is a bigger character in Supergirl than they were in Superman, but if you're building a DCU shelf I'd put them (and Hal & John) all over Ruthye and Krem.

I don't think the Lanterns would ever be part of the Supergirl wave - but we did get Benoist. I think Ruthye was planned and cancelled and the Benoist figured subbed in - there's no other reason for her very odd inclusion and only getting three new parts.

Not getting Guy and Hawkgirl last year or in the interim is still baffling, especially when Guy is just a Mr. Terrific repaint. Hawkgirl is, once again, a female without her name in the title and not a simple repaint so NEVUH.

Also, Lanterns didn't have a firm release date until recently so as Hasbro learned the hard way, tying embargoed figures into other waves is nothing but problematic for everyone - best to keep separate.

Only occurring to me now what a sad omission it is we didn't get the movie Hawkgirl. That would've been cool, but not surprising considering we never even got Ratcatcher 2 who was ostensibly the cipher/lead of Suicide Squad (I know Harley gets top billing but she was definitely the audience's perspective character). I think with Suicide Squad being such a small cast and not being completed I've just never expected them to actually make everyone from a film.

I was meaning that Lanterns figures haven't been in any of the leaks for the rest of the year rather, not that I thought they would have been included in the Supergirl wave. It was just to show that McFarlane isn't even making major characters like Hal and John so no Ruthye doesn't surprise me.

I'm sure someone who follows the leaks more closely can correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe Ruthye ever appeared on any of the rumour lists for Supergirl so I don't think she was planned and then cancelled.

Benoist Supergirl kinda fits. McFarlane has been working his way through a lot of old TV and movie characters and she's a popular take on the character that could be done with minimal new tooling as a variant. The timing also puts her out at the same time as Routh's Superman (another with substantial part reuse). So easy retools timed to capitalize on the film.

Benoist is also just a repaint on that Supergirl Silver Age body, like Martian. It's was cheap and easy since they just cranked Meggan and the Plat SilverAge out at the same time.

She doesn't scale with with any other live actions due to this.

Put her next to Millie or most others and it's just a straight up scaling issue, not an "well she's shorter IRL" issue.

I'd even snagged another Mr. Terrific back in the day to turn into Guy with one of the kits out there, and just never got around to it. 😅 I may still; I like Fillion enough to have in the style, at least until Mattel gets around to him in their line. The Spinmaster figures are still clogging the shelves at all my Targets; even new lines like MOTU are only getting maybe 2 pegs, meanwhile Superman figures still take up about 6-8 pegs, all full.

I feel kinda similar regarding the Supergirl figures- I don't really know if I need any of them. I'd picked up Lobo before seeing the movie, just because I like the character and figured he'd be popular, but I don't know. I liked his part in the movie well enough, but not necessarily to need the figure, at least at full price. Krem is a cool looking villain- there's a lot going on- and thusly, he makes for a cool toy, but I also didn't feel like I need him. I'd take a Kara, just to have with Clark, but haven't been able to find any in stores yet, and don't know if I truly love any of them- they all have at least 1 thing that really bugs me. I suppose I'd take the trenchcoat version, but isn't she exclusive to WalMart? Don't have any near me (I know, I know- order online, but that's no fun).

These transitional periods are always weird; I know some characters like Clark, Kara, Lobo, etc. will inevitably be done in Mattel's new line- maybe even better than McFarlane, so they feel like it's possible to wait. Others, like Krem, I'd be very surprised to see, so this is the chance to get them if you want them, but he's also probably gonna be vastly out of scale when Mattel's line rolls around.

I'm good with all the Millie figures. Don't need to flesh it out past that. She and Corenswet can just mark two summers of optimism for me in a long time.

Coat one was a Wal-Mart, just be aware she has no cape.
