McFarlane DC Multiverse

WOW, eclip, Aztek and Omac looks awesome!!! Would have liked the transparent blue that the old DCUC Omac figure comes with. that old figure was awsome.

That looks like a Supergirl movie display just like the Superman movie display. Time to check out Walmarts.

Eclipso looks like he's wearing a white shirt with design silk screened on it instead of white skin with a tattoo. One of the hands should have the black diamond in it.

What body is Saturn Girl? Why is she patterned all over?
Because it's the body from The Batman Catwoman figure. They reused it for Ice as well.
That will look terrible next to her compatriots. UUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHHH.

Also, is that the look people wanted? I thought they'd do more classic with the skirt look.
Looking terrible and whether or not people wanted it take a back seat to the fact that t's cheap and easy. It cranks more stuff out last-minute.

See my above comment.

Sorry, gonna be a big "wet blanket" post:

So many of these current McFarlane releases are just so half-assed that it makes me question if I want to stick around for the final year. The knee-jerk reaction to a lot of them is, “Yes! We’re going so deep into the DC roster!”, then you look close at these offerings and they just aren’t there. There’s corner cutting everywhere you look. Taking literally any available buck and painting on the character-specific details, whether it's appropriate or not, painting on articles of clothing (Black Canary’s top, the Supergirls’ boots), 50% of the capes not being wired, figures coming with zero accessories. Look at ALL that empty space in that big Supergirl box. By what metric is that a $35 figure? These figures are dripping with apathy. But the fans are the ones that set the bar with their wallets, and the bar is on the floor. That CW Supergirl was sold out on BBTS in minutes. We’re telling McFarlane, “We’ll take anything that gets made, just please make it”. Todd spent 6 years on Batman almost exclusively, now time's up and he figures he'll get the entire DC Universe out in a year and a half, well, variety is great, but are these the best figures they could be? Are they even trying to be?

Yes, I'm so done with current McF. I dunno how some of y'all can be excited about all of this shitty early ML level reuse. Because it has the character's name on the box and mostly resembles the art with painted on details? Yuck. Hate this so damn much. This line is just too far off from what I loved about it in the past.

Saturn Girl I'm liking a lot, though, because I'm interested in that base body. It's certainly not Kravitz Catwoman. Also not Arkham Catwoman as well. The amount of detail on that fig will clash do hard with the other Legionnaires for people who care about them, though.

All lines burn out, budgets get cut and the next big thing becomes the focus. Draining the hangers on until the plug is finally pulled. I fell for it with DCUC but the love for the McF line just isn’t there. They did better than I expected but the sooner we move on the better for everyone.

I wasn’t happy when Mattel lost the license. I wasn’t happy when Todd lost the license as I’ve come to like the product. I’m not overly demanding about stuff like part reuse, paint apps, engineering decisions and the like. Todd won me over with Dark Knights and Death Metal. By not doing the same old Bronze Age retreads everyone else does when they takeover DC action figures.

Repaints have never bothered me. Like at all. I think a lot can be achieved with a handful of blank bucks, new heads, paint and accessories. The various 4H lines have proven that.

But Todd has said some rather disturbing things. Things at odds with retail sales. He seems to be far more concerned about collectibility and prices on the secondary market than he is about moving product off of the shelves in retail stores. Making things harder to get doesn’t make for a lot of good will among your core fans and audience. As I’ve said, I’ve been buying some Marvel Legends lately. Not everything. Not even close. But for the stuff I’m looking for, the relative ease of finding it and the price on the secondary market is pretty astounding. Degree of difficulty is very low. Pricing is decent. Even on Fan Channel stuff. Sellouts are rare. It’s not perfect. Nothing is. But it’s truly been eye opening.

Todd losing the license is better for fans, and better for DC in the long run. Not necessarily better for me. But I still plan on giving Mattel another chance. For as long as I’ve still got in this frustrating, yet fun and fulfilling hobby.

Well I ordered Starman, Shazam & Larfleeze from MTS.

EE has a case but doesn't include platinum figures.

Thanks for the reminder! Grabbed Larfleeze from McFarlane's Amazon store. Tempted by Starman; don't know a thing about him, but always thought he looked cool.

Starman sold out on BBTS and Larfleeze sold out on Amazon, fwiw. It really is wild how hard it gets to just give someone money for this line. Every new release is a reason to look forward to someone else’s distribution method.

Larfleeze is still showing as up for preorder for me on McFarlane's Amazon page. I don't doubt you at all- this has always been a weird line with weird distribution, but like some other lines, it seems that most figures are able to be gotten once they release widely, even if you can't get a pre-order in (at least in my experience).

EDIT: looks like he just sold out on McFarlane's Amazon store, so I was a bit hasty with my response. But could be worth checking back!
