Mattel MOTU Chronicles Movie Figures

I doubt licensing fees have anything to do with the quality and construction of the figures themselves, as much as just the amount of accessories while also including a BAF piece. And as far as accessory inclusions go, Mattel's standard priced figures are fairly consistent across the board. A set or two of hands, any required soft goods, and essential accessories are always there. We'll get that with DC.

The Legends team has stated in interviews that they stick to the overall Buckycap formula to keep most of their last 13 years worth of parts generally compatible. Meanwhile, Classified was an entirely fresh line. Much like Classified and Chronicles, it's a totally new line for DC, from the ground up. The only thing stopping us from getting a great new DC line would be outright stupidity.

My wife picked up Battle Cat for me today. She knows I've been eyeing this one a lot but hadn't brought myself to actually spend the 60 bucks. Especially knowing it'll probably be discounted sooner than later, as most toys seem to be these days.

It's genuinely impressive how much nicer this figure is than even the Masterverse one. I'd say, between the two, it's really no contest which is a better action figure. And I like the color on this one better. Articulation works better, proportions are nicer. Just a better figure overall. In fact, I think I prefer this one to the MOTUC cat, which was always my gold standard for BC. I wish they'd put the same level of painted detail on his armor as they did for other Chronicles figures. Seems like such a shame to have him almost 'toylike' compared to the other collector figures. And it's a really weird contrast with how much detail the base figure has.

The eyes are crazy-cool. I love that they articulated not just the jaw, but the upper teeth to set back so you can close the mouth properly. That's REALLY going above-and-beyond. I don't think anyone would have faulted them for not doing that. But it's fantastic.

Looks badass. Love it. He-Man looks awesome on BC. And goddamn if I wouldn't be tempted to get another to leave as Cringer if Mattel releases a movie Adam.
Its 2 months later for me, and he is STILL prtty much in the top spot for my TOTY

I'll echo the sentiment. Just a freakin' awesome figure. I know animals can sometimes be a bit hard to pull off; comparing this Battle Cat to the Hasbro D&D Displacer Beast from a few years ago, and it's night and day. BC feels way more deluxe, despite having less going on than the DB. The glass eye that looks like it follows you is awesome, and the moving upper jaw is a brilliant idea that makes a huge difference, I think. I may try and add a little wash onto it just to cut back on the plastic-y look on him and the armor, but it's really just a great figure.

I really wish Mattel would take some of what they did here and apply it to the Hammond Collection figures. It's weird, those seemed to have a step up in quality a few years ago, but recently have taken a bit of a nosedive again. They stopped doing the glass eyes on their figures, the jaws are always either misaligned or the teeth break off easily (the moveable upper jaw could really benefit the JP dinos), the tails don't always plug in right, the sizes are off, etc. But then they turn around and give us something as awesome and quality feeling as Battle Cat.

I guess the spoiler period is over! Movie Orko up for pre-order on Mattel Creations in the UK!

I almost feel like that shouldn't be up yet with a freaking release date of September 2027 lol. I wonder if it's supposed to be September 2026? I hope so.

It says on the site he'll be made to order so I guess that lead time is about right but I totally misread it as 2026 earlier 🫣

"Orders for the made-to-order item will be taken from June 22, 2026, at 09:00 BST until July 14, 2026, at 07:59 BST (the “sale window”), with no purchase limits."

Interesting. A made to order Orko. I wonder when this will be up on the US Mattel Creations site?

I know the 25th for members and the 26th for everyone the Chronicles He-Man and Skeletor 2 Pack is up. But no mention of Orko.

It definitely feels dumb as shit. Why on earth would you need to do a "made to order" scenario for Orko. Just let him out in one of the waves or put him in a 2 pack or something.

We all like Orko. We all want Orko. Just give us the damn Orko. It's a single figure. Not a playset, big vehicle, or diorama.

I don't know what's going on with this. it almost feels fake lol. Like some June April fools day joke.

On the plus side: Charging less because the figure is smaller is the sort of refreshing, common sense, fair play practice that Hasbro would never dream of adopting, so that's nice.

On the negative side: MTO? WTF? Why? Just give us the Orko. All of our movie Chronicles figures are going to be boxed up by Sept next year.

You know, I just put my Origins Orko next to my Chronicles He-Man and he looks just fine.....

I'm sure the logic is that Orko wasn't... REALLY.. in the movie. So, putting him up in this way lets them see what the actual appetite is for him versus actual main characters. They may even be using his numbers as a guideline for other movie or even movie concept figures.

My big negative on this is that I don't really like an Orko figure that has waist articulation. It's A) not necessary and B) making him look like he's wearing a blouse and a skirt.
