Mattel MOTU Chronicles Movie Figures

Well, slap my ass and call me Judy. That thing is real. cmoney is internet champ and I've never been happier to be wrong. It is weird to think of starting an entirely new, non-movie, differently sized MOTU line. I mean, let's be honest, my dumb ass is going to do it. But I would have loved a Scareglow just like this in Masterverse.

But I love the look of this, and I love the look of the Chronicles Movie figures. So, Chronicles could be a great MOTU line.

Now this begs the question of why not just continue Masterverse scaling for the movie stuff if this is the case, or is this just a one off?
Not to get all Atomic Knight about this, but I have a theory about that:
I think Mattel wants to align scales, and they want that alignment to be at the 6-6.5 scale they are doing for DC. I doubt they will scale down WWE any time soon, for a variety of reasons, but all their “heroic fantasy” figures will scale together and be compatible/competitive with Hasbro’s blanket 6-6.5 inch offerings.

JUST a theory.

But are we really sure this Scare-Glow is in the new scale and isn't a leftover Masterverse figure they're just getting out there for fans, and is therefore MV scale? As has been pointed out elsewhere, he does appear to be fairly large in the photos.

Of course, there's also the possibility he's in 1/12 scale but the character is particularly big...

I am completely happy with them swerving to align scales and constructions, so long as they're great figures. We have two great IPs on the way, and a handful of possibilities, (Thundercats?) so it just makes sense. Masterverse is still missing a lot (even more if you're only considering New Eternia/Etheria), and I'd rather they made this redirection at that point than when we're almost at an almost complete line.

Scareglow being large would be cool and I would adore the scale shift in general, so I hope it's just that. I'd love to see his whole squad of supernatural weirdos depicted in this style, they all deserve proper toys.

I don't expect WWE to bump its scale down, nor do I care. Wrestling figures are a whole other beast from fantasy and superheroes, and practically exist in their own dimension.

What's this now?

It’s possible that they decided to update the articulation *before* they decided to update the scale. Scare-Glow has been in Masterverse box art. I would like some more info on this.

Of course, now that the information is actually relevant, I can't remember a damn thing about it, but a while ago- maybe a year-ish? I distinctly remember there was a figure or two "found" somewhere. Don't remember where, don't remember what line it was- maybe a DC thing? Anywho, the poster played it off as having "found" this mysterious new figure at a store, only for it to turn out that they were a customizer who was just, like, self-promoting. They took some of their customs into a store and did a little photoshoot. Maybe that's what's going on here?

I can't recall the last time something just hit the shelves without being announced in some way shape or form. Feels like it's been a decade or more. Would be awesome and quite nostalgic if it turned out to be true, but something just feels off here. Yet another reason why I despise AI- can't even trust your own eyes half the time.
They look like customs to me too. The skeletor just seems off. Theres just various details that seem weird to me

Well, I’m honestly surprised about scareglow.

It’s super weird. How often do you see a human with a Mattel figure in hand before it goes up on. BBTS or Amazon for preorder?

At first, I thought Scarglow was possibly taken from a factory or warehouse because the Brazilian instagram didn't reference the reddit story. I bought an Anti-Etenia He-Man a few weeks back with the stuck shoulder and should've complained to Mattel (they would've sent back a Pig Man, I just know it).

Ah you're right, I keep forgetting about the articulation being different from the rest of Masterverse. I have no idea what the deal is.
