Mattel Kids/Core MOTU Movie Line and Products

I was considering not ordering the kids core line. That consideration has been murdered. I ordered all the new stuff from BBTS. Also, there are 6 new items up for pre order for the core line. Man At Arms, Tri Klops, and Ram Man, as well as Version 2's of He-Man, Skeletor, and Teela.

No pics though.

Also, at one point a 2 in 1 playset was rumored. And now again a playset is rumored at the same price point of about $100 as it is being found in computers at places. This mystery playset is supposed to be available today, but nobody has it up for pre order. So, we'll see, I guess.

It's okay, man. You held your ground as long as you could. And by that I mean right up until there was literally any temptation or opportunity.

Snagged He-Man and Beast Man from this line today in addition to Chronicles He-Man, and like this core line WAY more than I thought I would. For $10, these are genuinely great!

Watching some of the trailers for the movie and seeing how we are getting this cool Skel Knight army builder, I hope we get the Eternian Palace Guards as a figure too. Both in the kids and Chronicles lines.

For $10 I feel there is a lot going on with these figures. Enough for me to say, "This is a pretty good price".
Likenesses are ballpark (and honestly, I've never required anything more from my action figures).
Articulation is better than expected. Ball joint neck, shoulders, and hips. Wrist hinges in the correct direction. Single jointed knees and elbows are something I would expect at this price (as opposed to $30 Black Series figures). I miss the ankle articulation but, again, $10.

I picked up He-Man when I saw him this morning. I thought this would scale with my vintage Greyskull, it works out really well. Honestly.....if we could get ankle articulation for like, $2 more, I don't know if I'd mind seeing more of my favorite franchises in this format if it meant paying 1/3 of the price. I feel like I got what I paid for, which happens less and less these days.

(Head swaps fit on correctly and the skin tone matches, but WAY too big.)

Spotted Core He-Man, Teela, and Beast Man at Walmart this morning. Nice sculpts, but I'm not at all tempted by figures at this scale. No sign of any Chronicles.

I don't know if any of you need it but the Amazon exclusive 4 pack with exclusive Goat Man is In Stock and ready to ship on Amazon right now.

This is pretty cool. When the MOTU Movie Merch pre orders went up on April 25th, on BBTS there were some pre orders for figures that haven't been revealed yet. Like V.2 He-Man and Skeletor, V.2 Teela, etc.

Well, here is a pic of V.2 He-Man and he has on black war paint, kind of like Conan the Barbarian. I wonder if they'll be doing crazy color and odd non movie loo variations for everyone, especially He-Man and Skeletor, kind of like Batman in the old Kenner Batman movie line days.

I simultaneously hope they do not do something like that in the actual movie, but also definitely am in favor of crazy Kenner-style variants for the kids' line. That's super fun.

Totally agree. I don't want to see it in the movie, but crazy ass toy variants like the old Kenner Batman line, I'd go crazy and buy all of that. Even Arctic and Deep Dive He-Man lol.

I have a lot of Kenner Batman but the only crazy ass Batman variant I have is arctic Batman. Needed for the MN winters. I'd be tempted by an arctic He-Man. I know 200X did one and I'd probably get it if I happened across it.

I finally got around to opening all my Kids Core line figures. And I can't say enough good about these little toys. At $10, with all the articulation and detail, these figures may be the best value and most fun on the market right now.

Even if you don't buy the entire line, you owe it to yourself to get Skeletor. The basic, single card release Skeletor. This figure looks so cool. In some ways, it rivals the Chronicles version in looks. It just has so much detail, a kind of wash on the face that makes the skeletal features just stand out and pop, and such vibrant colors.

The Skeletor in the 4 pack and the action feature Skeletor are all different. The best looking one is the single carded, $10 Skeletor.

The action feature figures are actually a lot of fun too, and the Battle Cat with electronic sounds is amazing.

I really recommend these. They are just a lot of fun and give such a better feel of what it was like to just be buying toys to play with as a kid.

Don't get me wrong, Chronicles are amazing. The best figures Mattel has ever let out, and perhaps currently the best figures out there especially for the cost when it comes to an adult collectible figure.

But these kid core figures are something special all their own. And just how Mattel really did something impressive in the adult collectible space with Chronicles, they did something really special here as well in the kids toy space.

I totally understand if you are buying Chronicles, being they are superior, you may not need or want to spend the money on an entire other collection of the same characters and looks from the same film. But get Skeletor, He-Man, and Battle Cat. They look great and they are so much fun. If you want to go even cheaper, just get that Skeletor. He would look good and brighten your day on any desk or table in the world. And he's $10
