Mattel Jurassic Park Lines

My top 3 are Stego, Triceratops and Ankylosaurus, so I knocked 2/3 out pretty early on in the line, and have just been waiting and waiting for Mattel to make my #1.
I'm sure you're waiting for a full-size triceratops though, right? That one we got is the juvenile who was sick in JP1. She feels like half a triceratops until we get a full adult.

Stegosaurus has always been my favorite dino too. I had one as a kid that was bright yellow with orange back plates and now I always feel like stegos should be that same garish color combo so I'm always a little disappointed when they aren't. Yeah, I know it's not realistic, but still. I've got to pick this guy up soon though. Like you I had been mostly all-in but then I decided I was just going to pick up dinosaurs I loved and owned toys of as a kid.
Just to play devil's advocate and awaken my inner nerdy dino kid from his deep slumber, I don't know if we truly know what color dinos were. There's some indicators from studying their DNA that show a lot of their skin was probably a brownish red or orange, but in regards to their feathers, they think many were iridescent or brightly colored. While we may have a general idea, we may never know 100%; point being, if you want to think that Stegos were yellow and orange, you go right ahead because you very well could be right!

I don't get why they went back to the bendy wire tail for the spino and stega after using a covered segmented ball joint tail on the giga. I prefer the segmented tail that the giga and theri have.

My only thought was that maybe there was some structural integrity issues? Especially if the hands of kids, I could see how they may break off at the connector. To be honest, I wasn't as big a fan of the segmented tails- I think it broke up the sculpt a bit too much, which I wasn't the biggest fan of, but I can definitely see how some would prefer it. Or maybe it had to do with the length of the tails? Giga's is way longer than normal, and maybe a bendy tail just didn't hold up? Not sure. As much as I love the HC, there are a few things that they don't necessarily seem to have locked down just yet- tails, some figures having working jaws, the massive underbite of the Raptors, etc.

They used the segments for the Theri tail which is relatively short so I doubt it had to do with tail length. How did the segments break sculpt up at all since they have a continuous skin over the segments?

The SDCC set is interesting. I didn't get the outhouse one, since I only wanted the lawyer guy. Figured he'd get a solo release at some point, but I suppose that was a mistake on my part. I like the guy in dino costume figure. I only saw Lost World once, so I don't have an attachment to the Buck T-rex. But hey, it's another T-rex.

I'd like a proper sized Hammond Triceratops. I passed on the first one, despite the triceratops being my favorite dinosaur, since I was so disappointed in the sized. Probably should have gotten one anyway. I have the Habitat one which is way better sizewise.

Sorry, think I misunderstood ya. I was thinking of the fact that the Giga's tail is broken up into the hard plastic segment and the bendy segment, with no plastic sheath over the two. I guess the bendy rubber wouldn't technically be "sculpt" anyway.

I made that mistake too. So often with these sets, I really only want the human characters. That's why tracking down the Camp Cretaceous and Chaos Theory kids has been such a pain. I do like the look of the Buck; that was the first T-Rex toy I had growing up- the one that could swallow the little pod thing and you could open its stomach to get it out. Man, I took that thing with me everywhere. I don't necessarily need the blow-up T-Rex suit as a figure, but something tells me this may be the only time we get the Buck, and I don't wanna miss out. The Hammond Collection Wu set (and maybe the Sexy Malcolm set too?) ended up going on clearance on Mattel Creations, and while I'm hoping that'll be the case here eventually, part of me doesn't want to take the risk, considering how long some folks have been wanting the Buck.

Don't encourage me! I'll have him painted neon orange and chartreuse

The Creations exclusive Hammond Wu and Malcolm sets tell us the humans aren't main sellers for this line. The outhouse set sold out, but it did have a T-rex with it. So I think this Buck set will sell out. Based on some of the wording, I think the Buck itself will also see a mass release and only the costume guy and other accessories are exclusive.

I hope so. I really can't afford it, but definitely want the Buck.

I tried backing the Buck, Tim & Lex, and the gates when I could afford it, but we all know that didn't fund. ☹️

I do love brightly colored dinosaurs! It's why I love collecting Boss Fight's Saurozoic Warriors like so much.

I know what you mean, and yeah it's likely that if they make a larger Triceratops I'll pick it up. I have the baby as well, so all 3 would make a cool family display.

You didn't happen to end up with an Irritator you don't want, did you? 🥺

I do have one, and you know what, as cool as the Irritator is, and it is very cool, the secondary market prices for it, even loose, are absolutely ridiculous. And I know that you are a huge dino fan and are in need of one, so I think I'll help a brother out and sell him to you for way, way cheaper than he is going for. DM me.

The story packs and the new vehicle/truck with figure by Mattel all went up for pre order on Entertainment Earth today. If you pre order all 4 story/human packs and the truck it gives you enough not only for Free shipping, but also the $10 credit for the 4th of July sale. I just did it myself.

The $10 credit is e-mailed to you. I don't know how long you have to use it, as I haven't got mine yet.

I saw the movie today, and I honestly loved it. The first one is obviously my favorite, and the best probably to everyone. But this was my second favorite Jurassic film. Great visual scenes with the people and Dinosaurs, and it was just a very fun movie.

Also, having good actors like Scarlet, Mahershala, Ed Skeirn, etc. really helped. It was just a fun visual feast for the eyes, and I enjoyed the movie the entire time.

I loved all the scenes in the ocean with the Mosasaurus and Spinosaurus', little baby Delores was so sweet, kind of the cuteness/baby Grogu of the film, and there were just so many fun scenes and Dino attacks.

It wasn't Shakespeare, but it was a lot of fun.
