Mattel DC Figures

The Zatanna I hope we get someday:

I want the whole damn lot. And we came so close ...
I REALLY hoped we'd get that version of Zatanna before DCUC ended...probably the biggest disappointment with that line for me. I hope she shows up in the new Mattel line in one of the earlier waves!!!
Getting that Snapper Carr is going to be tricky, but keep hope alive.
I've held on to that terrible ML Hood figure for the sole purpose of either turning him into a Snapper Carr or a Rick Jones. Just haven't found a head for either that really captures the character.

That’s the kind of move that I think would get a lot of collectors on board with the line providing the figures themselves are good.

That particular look is very specific and would require 15 more figures in the corresponding costumes. Some more generic than others. You’d essentially be building out the Satellite JLA from that Zatanna. Clearly not impossible, but it won’t happen overnight either. Hopefully Mattel has learned the lesson of not front loading all its A and B+ list characters into the first 18 months.

I don’t think it’s as much about completing the Satellite Era JLA as much as it is giving fans a popular version of a character that they have not yet received as a 1/12 (ish) fully articulated figure.

I have come around to the point others have made that collectors like myself that have been around since the inception of DC Direct are only a subset of the total population, but I still think a Satellite Era Zatanna would a popular choice, even with younger collectors.

I’m thinking more in terms of some of the things the 3.75” Marvel Universe line did like making a classic 70s Ms. Marvel early on. We still haven’t really gotten one from Marvel Legends. We only got the Dark Avengers version.

If those mofo's don't give me a damn Killer Moth I swear.
Definitely. My man is far overdue for another figure. There's only been, what, 3 or so figures ever made? DCUC, Spinmaster DC classics, and an Imaginext minifig? I suppose 4 if you count the more Charaxes-ish figure from The Batman cartoon.

We definitely need a return to the more whimsical villains. Todd sort of started to get there, with figures like Kite Man, OG Clock King, etc. But Killer Moth definitely needs a figure- maybe a comic-based Condiment King as well.

Gentleman Ghost, too. Still surprised Todd didn't go for him- he's that perfect sweet spot of cool, creepy, and kooky that Todd seems to love.

I'll take any and all Zatannas that don't require me to buy a pack-in figure, until such time as Zatanna is given a cute but sinister familiar in a trope that I have in no way stolen from shows like Madoka. (I think it should be less catlike and more rabbity, though.)

I'm more of a Magic DC fan than a specific team fan, so really any magic users Mattel makes are okay with me, whether they be Zatanna, or Enchantress with the witchy look, or some hypothetical third option that they're free to make after a properly witchy Enchantress.

I like Zatanna and Constantine best as friendly exes, as depicted here:

I seem to remember the Secret Six ongoing implied there was maybe a group of Killer Moths, which reminded me a lot of the Monarch's henchmen from Venture Bros. I kind of want someone to explore that as a fun alternative to the Court of Owls or whatever.

Killer Moth skirts that line for me of silly and cool. I love the idea of him, I love the gimmick, I love how unserious he can be amidst a very serious setting. And if you really wanted to, you could totally apply a more horrific lens over him, even without going the whole Charaxes route. A bug-obsessed guy who traps his victims in a cocoon? There's a horror story there for sure.

I love villains who are absolutely ridiculous but take themselves super-seriously. Killer Moth is my favorite example of this. Batman’s rogues specifically are generally severely mentally ill, and it wouldn’t make sense for them all to be like cool edgelord murder-clowns and hardcore disfigured gangsters. We need the “yup, this guy is just NUTS” villains.
