Mattel DC Figures

Got in my Robin. Head was too big to swap onto my Mafex, but I'm kinda... okay with that? It's a very fun figure in its own right and great to just have as a desk toy. (Note: All my desk toy figures must be incredibly robust, my cats love getting on my desk and chewing on things with sharper and crisper parts)

I'm surprised that this ALSO has ankle articulation. Only a swivel, but I can change that with some effort. Really fun thing!

May have to get a Batman to match with him.

I finally opened my Mattel Wave One DC figures. Damn, that took a few days for me to get to. I was starting to worry I'd become NORM with his 200X MOTU Origins figures and just sit on them until like Wave 6.

But I got them opened. First thoughts, incredible. Very fun, sturdy, well-made figures with the quality and sculpts of an adult collector line, but the bright colors and weapons of a kids line. And you put all that together and it equals fun.

Plenty of articulation, the face sculpts are freaking incredible. They look legit. Joker has an incredible face/head sculpt, and even though all his colors are bright, he has these yellowish faded teeth. Making him look even creepier.

I honestly love these figures. I had only 1 complaint. And that was my Batman's ears on his cowl were all squished in inside the packaging, and they are a bit bent and curved out of the packaging. But that's it.

That can be fixed right? Just heat the ears with a blow dryer, put them in the position you want then dunk them in some cold water?

I've seen some of you say something like that before.

Great figures though, and they are fun to display, pose, play with, or whatever. I've just got the first 4 and Robin on his cycle and I am already very impressed and feel these are some of my favorite DC toys ever, and I have a TON of DC toys from over 40 years.

Mattel did something really great here, just like they've done with MOTU Kids Core and Chronicles.

I completely agree . I have had so much fun playing with Batman and Robin. I have them both on my desk, utility belts off and hanging on the weapons rack while they are posed training with the bladed bow staffs. They are in classic colored costumes. They remind me of classic toys I played with that had no ab crunches and or ankle hinges and I still enjoyed them. They also, especially Batman, have heroic proportions specific to their character. I just love them and they will be easy to collect at this price point and only 4 figures per wave. I can't wait to get Joker and the Flash. Gamestop has the second wave listed as coming in August. I hope so. I really only need Superman and John Stewart from that wave buuut I could end up getting them all. I could see myself buying everything possibly-The vehicles, hopefully playsets, etc. and if anyone says anything I'll tell them I am breaking them in for my 5 month old grandson for when he is old enough to play with them! 😁

The Bane 3 pack is gonna smoke.
Now that we know the belts are removable/swappable, that makes Nightwing more desirable and also means we can swap the pouch belt from the Clayface Batman onto this Batman for the first clean and accurate Batman in the line with that normalized Bat-logo. And Bane looks like the best figure in the line so far, along with Joker. Excellent, classic, functional execution. Cannot wait for that set particularly.

Just watched a review of the Batman/Bane/Nightwing set on youtube. Battle Stories was the review site. He has reviewed all the Core multipacks so far. This 3 pack and the Mr. Freeze set are freaking awesome. Must buys. The Batman in the Bane set has a regular Bat symbol on his chest. Really gives off a Hush Batman vibe. Bane is incredible and has all the same articulation points. I was afraid being so big he wouldn't. Nightwing looks outstanding. The escrima sticks attach to his belt horizontally which is awesome. The only negative I see is the reviewer says Nightwing's belt isn't removable. Dick's head sculpt is just as good as everyone else's. The more I see of this line the more committed to it I become and I still can't wait for the collector stuff. I may have an overload of DC characters come next year!

Excited for that Bane, he looks fantastic.

It looks like they are dancing in the Bane 3 pack
I think they are doing the opening sequence to the Peacemaker show.

I was looking at these new Mattel figures today, and I seriously like these. But I was also thinking that dear god how can I be collecting another DC line. I swear, if you'd look at my toy collection and see all the DC figures, you'd think DC is my favorite property and favorite thing on earth to collect. And it isn't. I love DC, but it's not my favorite. It may be Top 5, but not my favorite.

But I have so many DC figures from the 80's until now. I really think just growing up in the time of the Keaton Batman movie in 89 and loving that film and the entire time building up to it with all the merch, I just never stopped loving Batman. And I love DC because of Batman. I don't know what the Hell happened, but I am stupid with DC toys, especially Batman.

I might be an idiot.
