Mattel DC Figures

I picked up Batman and Robin last night from Target. They had the peg out but no figures on it. Saw the Batmobile and asked a very nice employee if they maybe had the figures that go with it. He checked and said I'll be right back. They had 4 left-2 of Batman, a Robin and a Flash. No Joker. Left Flash because I just got paid and didn't want to spend that much right away. I figure Flash and Batman will be the easiest to find anyways. I truly do love these in hand and it just makes me more excited to see what the collector figures look like. This core line will be fun to collect and stockpile for when my grandson is old enough to play with them. The colors pop. Robin may be the best of the four IMHO. Batman gets more than 90 degrees with his single joint elbow and it looks more natural. Just really fun TOYS. The accessories and storage rack-awesome. Batman standing eye to eye with Gamerverse Cap-Priceless. I have high expectations now for the collector line.

I received Tim Drake Robin with cycle from Amazon. I have to say it felt strange holding a DC figure more in scale with Marvel Legends. You guys are my buds so I share this, I actually got a little emotional holding that figure.
The joints are of good quality similar or same as Marvel Legends. The head has a great amount of tilt which most Marvel Legends do not. He stands around Daredevil size the one with Electra in that set.
Overall fantastic Robin for a kids line. I'm hoping Mattel has realized they can make a body for Tim and one for Dick. Tim should be shorter than Dick as we all know but they have plenty of looks they can do that body on and the same for Dick which could be used for all members of the Titans except Cyborg of course plus their many looks and the Tim Drake body the younger Teen Titans and younger Legion of Superheroes and again the Dick body for when the LofS get older. That's right there is a lot of reuse on just two bodies.

So today I did something that I haven't done in at least 10 years.

No, smart-asses. Not get laid. For your information, that's been happening fairly frequently lately. So there.

No, I actually went into a Target store and bought an action figure. Not just any action figure, but a Mattel DC figure.

A Target here in East San Diego county had the Flash and Robin. I left the Boy Wonder but I got the Flash because I wanted to hold one of these in my hand and see what they're about. And I must say, it's pretty nice. They scale real well with Marvel Legends and DCUC, but you've read what others have been saying so you already know that. I might get Batman and Superman, but I think it's best to wait and see what the collector's line looks like.

The main point I wanted to make here is for the first time in a long time I'm excited about the future. Excited to see what's in store. And I'm hoping it doesn't end badly this time. :::knocks wood:::

There's 50 Days until SDCC 2026. We might see some cool stuff. Here's hoping!

While I hope Tim and Dick lead into a general teen buck, I can ONLY really see their legs getting any reuse when brought into the Collector lines. I wouldn't want either variant of Robin without mostly unique sculpts.

Dude, at this point Mattel should be sending you a case.

Potentially stupid question, but I'm curious: Has there been any official acknowledgement of which of the Robins the Core figures are supposed to be? Are they even meant to be a specific one? Guessing not, but figured it'd be worth asking.

I opted to preorder that one as well. I don't really like the yellow outline around the bat emblem, but I thought the face looked decent. I figured I'd give it a shot and if I don't like it I can always hand it off to a kid in the family or something.
I don't mind the outline logo in-general, but for this figure I do wish it had the classic oval logo instead. Other than that, it weirdly makes me think of some of the early figures from Kenner back in the day, just with modern articulation.

That's essentially WHY I preordered it. I had the Kenner 89 Batman WITHOUT the chubby face and for the longest time it was basically my favorite toy. Somehow it got lost in various moves, but I liked the face sculpt on this one. Can't say for sure that I'll keep it, but for less than $20 I may see if they sell Bat-oval waterslide tampo's and go from there.

I doubt we'll see proper acknowledgement of who this is meant to be, but it's mostly based Dan Mora's take on Dick Grayson, with a logo and headsculpt based on Tim. And that look was basically just Tim with pixie boots, the tunic, and a different logo and mask... so let's just say it's Tim. Nightwing's already in the line anyways, so it works better this way.

BBTS has shipped Batman, Dick Grayson Robin, Flash and Joker with some other figures from my POL. EE is still processing and probably will be until next week, lol. It would be nice if Mattel could give some information about the Killer Croc, Bane and Mr. Freeze sets.

I would simply love to have in the Collector line everyone on this poster. Full premium articulation with extra heads, hands, good cloth capes and accessories, power effects or weapons related.

Okay I should not be this excited that Batman and Robin are standing alongside RYV Spider-Man on my desk at work and Batman is slightly taller than Spidey and Robin shorter than both of them. Plus they look good together IMHO. I have a bad feeling when the collector line hits all my collecting money will be spent only on DC and Marvel.

I still haven't seen these on the pegs and they're not quite important enough to ask a Target employee to check the backroom. I think these are going to be a nice occasional impulse buy when I want to leave the store with an action figure without spending too much money. Even better when Target runs their usual sale.
