Mattel DC Figures

Man, I'd really dig Warlord and some Elseworlds stuff. It's always made me a tiny bit sad that we've had like 20+ years of Marvel Legends and they've really never done any of the 'What If' costumes/characters.

Glad to see these are scratching that itch for some, but I'm actually kind of looking forward to taking a break and just focusing on things I liked but never bought. If the collector line is compatible with DCUC and starts delivering new characters never made before, I'm sure I'll get plenty, but taking a break until 2027 doesn't seem half bad.

Warlord was actually slated for DCUC before the plug was pulled. Neitlich showed what the next few retail wave lineups were slated to be on one of his Spector Creative You Tube videos.

I'm torn about that because like.. I REALLY want a good Warlord figure, but I also probably would have thrown it in the trash by now if it had actually come out in DCUC. I didn't have a ton of luck with that line (wilting plastic, failing knees, plastic slowly discoloring, etc). But man.. it would have been cool to have him even just for a little while.

I'm usually not interested in A-lister figures so if a line can persuade me about one, I think there's tremendous promise for that line. And I'm at least interested in that John Stewart. Hopefully this or the more collector-driven line will get around to some of my favorites, but I always consider that a nice bonus and not something I'm expecting. By all rights Count Vertigo Mania should be sweeping this benighted nation in 2026, but we don't live in the best of all possible worlds and if he shows up in a James Gunn project it's probably going to be like a Bill Skarsgard cameo where he dies in some embarrassing fashion while Nathan Fillion or Sean Gunn mugs at the camera about it.

I've had not-terrible luck with the lifespan of my DCUC stuff, but I also sold off a ton and a lot of what remains are customs. That Wave 1 Etrigan's still hanging in there pretty well, though. By far the oldest figure I still have from the line and he still looks good.
