Masters of the Universe X Thundercats

I think I am going to have to get in on this MOTU/T-Cats line. I had pre ordered He-Man, but now I want the rest. Seeing how the original ThunderCats characters can be made into classic attired versions of themselves in Origins style is really cool and really makes me want these.

It's funny, while MOTU is my favorite toy property, and TMNT is my second favorite, I never felt like I wanted the ToG figures. Ninja Turtles just don't feel like they go with He-Man. I tried to make myself buy the ToG line and grabbed a couple, but I just couldn't keep going. It felt like they didn't belong.

But I, like many, have always felt the ThunderCats should meet with He-Man and the MOTU. So, while I may like TMNT more than ThunderCats, I definitely like ThunderCats more when it comes to mixing them with He-Man.

I pre-ordered a case of Wave 2. They just look so cool. I never was into Thundercats, but have a handful of MOTU Origins and love adding 80s stuff. So here we go. Will buy Wave 1 in store if I dig them.

Yeah, Wave 2 looks great. Especially that He-Man with the Eternia Cat Armor. There is so much fun stuff in "Origins" size/scale coming that looks fun to add to the MOTU Origins collection. Obviouslly these awesome ThunderCats figures by Mattel, but also those Conan and Red Sonja figures by Boss Fight that are supposed to be Origins size.

It's fun adding to the ranks of MOTU when it's properties that feel like they belong or can mesh in the world of Eternia. As much as I love Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, to me they just don't mesh well with MOTU. So, I didn't get the ToG line. Whereas ThunderCats or Conan feel like they go perfectly with MOTU to me.

Agreed about TMNT clashing with MotU, @Super Camel. TMNT feels too Earth based, where the rest seem to exist in outer space in far off futures. That’s not to say that interdimensional time travel isn’t possible. But to me, the TMNT lore depends more on being from Earth, closer to the present. I’m sure an argument could be made about MotU having Earth inspired components, but also the shared body molds clashes with the individuality of body types in TMNT. They don’t blend to me.

Thundercats is absolutely a better fit for MOTU and feel like they could belong in the same universe. I square the circle with the turtles though because so many TMNT stories feel like weirdass multiverse stories. Getting tossed through space, time, and reality is just something the turtles do. I actually find them on Eternia only slightly jarring but would find He-Man in New York SUPER jarring (original live action movie aside).

Yeah i agree with this, I loved both cartoons but in my head they are also very different.

I guess the playmates tmnt figures were kind of proportioned like motu but that’s about as close as I can figure

I found Cheetara today and scooped her up. My girls like Cheetara a lot but they are not that into my vintage figure. They do, however, like to play with my MOTU Origins figures, so I think they're really going to like this one. Had to get her regardless of if I go in on the rest of the line or not. I'm tempted.

Count me among those who couldn't get into MOTU/TMNT. But the fact that you can strip these Thundercats down to their classic looks in MOTU form is a big draw.

So the third wave is literally all repaints?

That's crazy. That was the rumored lineup though, but I can't believe they are already re releasing Lion-O and Panthro. At least Panthor Man is a new character even though he is just Battle Cat Man repainted.

Yeah my big reaction was "ho-hum."

I hope this is a filler wave to get more new product up to snuff for reveal. Otherwise this will be a short lived line.

Honestly I don’t need this line to go on forever. Yes, wave three is not creative at all. But I’ll take that Panthor. Maybe Panthro and Lion-O will upgrade the previous versions. But they definitely could have offered Lynx-O or Bengali. Eh, whatever, they made the four main adult Cats. I’m good.

Yeah, if we get the main four cats, Mum-Ra, and Battle Cat/Panthorr I could be okay with it being a short run line and be very happy with it. Wouldn't turn down Bengali or Lynx-O or the kits or Snarf in some way, but if the line maxes out at ten or twelve figures? I almost prefer a small, cool, easy to collect set than the sort of sensory overload of the TMNT/Grayskull line. (Which I love, but I'm already overwhelmed, it went deep fast.)

Battle Cat and Panthor are all I'm interested in, so this works for me.

It is odd that 3 waves in and they're already doing repaints.

Cheetah may be as far as I go with this line and that's fine with me. For me it's just a vehicle to get standard-ish looking Thundercats, couldn't care less about the extra gear they come with. Honestly, I think all these crossover lines wreak of "We don't want to come up with new ideas, we've sold you everything hundreds of times over, so now we're going to combine the things we've sold you hundreds of times over in a desperate attempt to squeeze out more money".
