Masters of the Universe: Origins

I think SB Spikor is cool, as you can easily use him as a new character different than Spikor. Just like SB Sy-Klone can be some kind of space cop.
To me, SB Spikor isn't different enough from standard Spikor. Like I don't need two spikey dudes. One is unique enough, another just feels repetitive. Whereas with SB Sy-Klone, he feels generic enough and different enough from the standard version that he could exist in the same display without feeling repetitive.

I had to laugh yesterday (and cry inside a little).

Went to a local TRU (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada). One of only two left in the city (had 6 in 2024). The sadness was wafting up from every shelf in the action figure section. Maybe the only one on par with MOTU was Classified (1 Retro Lady Jaye, 2 Road Pig, 1 Jinx).

I was surprised to see anything MOTU because Mattel seems to have abandoned Canada as a retail presence for MOTU. I haven't seen anything at regular retail in a long time. We are pretty much regulated to online etailers to get anything new.

So back to my point. The TRU location only had one item on the shelves for MOTU. What was it? 200X Origins Beast Man. What made me laugh about it? There were at least 15 of them on the shelf!!!!! I thought it was the whole first wave, but nope. Nothing but Beast Man. Talk about terrible, they are going to sit there and one day, possibly years from now, he'll be clearanced out for $10 or less.

Got my order in for GBW x2. I am a total mark for the Axl Jimenez designed characters from the Classics era and I really like that they are being built into this line, since Classics only got to Fangor.

Eager for this one to get here.

So, during a video by Mattel previewing the Great Black Wizard figure, they had some figures standing there on display. Among them, Priest Pythonus and Gray!

To those who might not know, Snake Priest Pythonus was a possible unlockable figure for the Snake Lair Playset on Creations in 2025 but didn't reach enough funding to unlock him asa Tier, even though the playset itself funded. Then Gray, a character from Preternia, is the alter-ego of He-Ro. Gray is a character I have always wanted in figure form.

I'm sure Gray must be coming to Creations, but I hope this means Pythonus is as well.

I'm going to be greedy now because I said before this line ends that I want a Swiftwind, and I got it, and it's a really good one. Now in typical toy collector fashion I will ask for more :).
I couldn't be less interested in these sketch book/early draft designs. That (and crossover figures) are a tell-tale sign that you're scraping the bottom of the barrel for new ideas, but there are a few remaining vintage characters that haven't gotten the Origins version. I would LOVE to see Titus. No doubt he would be an online exclusive but make it available for everyone who wants one (like Swiftwind) and I'll be happy. Not that I'm not happy now, because I got a Swiftwind.

Oh, you mean it would be nice if they followed through with their prior commitment to complete the vintage line-up? Yeah, someone has been talking about that a lot but I can't put my finger on who it was.....

The wild thing is, it seemed pretty obvious that they did the Andre the Giant and Megator-Krang figures specifically as 'pre-re-use' for Titus and Megator. And then.... nothing. We still don't even have a vintage toy Two-Bad.

Sketch He-Man in stock:

I love you man. I have been looking for that thing on Targets website ever since NORM said he found it in stores. I ordered two immediately when I saw your post. Thanks for putting the link up.

A couple things.

One, I'd say we will be getting Blast Attack soon. If you look at Great Black Wizards legs, and the designs on them, you realize they are Blast Attacks legs, just painted in different colors. So, hopefully we will be getting Blast Attack this year knocking off another vintage character.

Two. I don't know if anyone missed it the first time when it was on Mattel Creations, but BBTS has Night Stalker, the evil robotic horse up for pre order. So, if you didn't get a Night Stalker on Creations, you can grab one now from Big Bad Toy Store. It's definitely a great vehicle/beast. And if you have Stridor, you gotta have Night Stalker.

Nice! I figured he'd be coming soon given Great Black Wizards legs seemed to be Blast Attacks legs. I just didn't think it would literally be this month.

We are getting so close to completing the vintage lineup. Now we just need Blade, Saurod, Gwildor, Stonedar, and Two Bad for the vintage figures.

So excited to have Great Black Wizard in my collection. I had to order two because I have had the Classics body parts needed - Blast Attack legs, Batros feet, torso, arms, loincloth from Vikor, Greyskull cape; scareglow head - for so long set aside to eventually do the helmet and harness. Now this figure delivers the helmet and harness and I have GBW in my classics collection too. So happy right now.
