Masters of the Universe: Origins

Got notice that Marlena is processing soon at BBTS with a $2 tariff increase to 21.99

Also just scored Sketchbook He-Man at Target! Didn’t even realize he was out. Picked up two to display both heads, maybe as separate characters.

WHAT!? Sketchbook He-Man is out? I want like two of those at least. They haven't even put him up for order/pre order on Target.com yet.

That's a great find NORM. Sketchbook Man E Faces shouldn't be too far behind either. They've shown packaged images of him.

SB He-Man is great. I prefer the darker hair version, and haven’t opened the second one to display the blonde head just yet. But I’ve formed a team consisting of Sharella, SB Sy-Klone, Red Shadow, vs Demo-Man (essentially SB Skeletor!) and Hellfire (cos he looks great as an evil warrior too). Loving how these look together!

Same. Could have put this here, could have put it in the tariff thread, could have put it in the cutting back/quitting thread. But it's going to take more than $2 for me to pass on the Queen. This is one MOTU figure I've always wanted.

Creations is teasing a new Origins exclusive. An evil Preternia character. I couldn’t access the sneak peek pics. Any ideas?

In perhaps the most "action figure collectors really are easy marks" moment of my week, it was the comments about the tariff on Marlena that reminded me I HADN'T preordered her so I could tack one onto my POL before I ship it this week. Tariffs are NOT supposed to remind me to spend MORE money but...

(I'm very, very much okay with limiting what I buy in this line from now on but I also never had Marlena in any previous version released, so I'll overpay two bucks one time.)

I'm pretty sure it's Great Black Wizard. Going up on January 9th at 12:00 PM EST.

I'm excited about this one. I have always wanted GBW ever since his artwork was shown during the MOTU Classics line. I still wish we would have got him in Classics, but I'm happy to get him now for origins. I hope we get Hans Hammerholder someday too.

It looks like there could be a second MOTU item on Mattel Creations in the month of January. On the 28th at 12:00PM EST

Of course, it could end up not happening. Sometimes in the past Mattel has had 2 slots on their launch calendar for MOTU and ended up removing the later one.

But who knows.

I hope SO MUCH that in 2026 we finish the vintage collection.

We just got Dragstor, Multi Bot is coming soon. All we need are Stonedar, Blast Attack, Blade, Saurod, Gwildor, and Two Bad.

6. 6 basic figures. Stonedar is basically already made too. They made Rokkon. Stonedar is just Rokkon with different colors as far as the toy goes. Let's do it Mattel.

If they want to make Rotar and Twistoid, the Mete-Orbs, any more vehicles, or the Laser He-Man and Skeletor or Dinos and Giants from the vintage line, I'd buy all that too. But those 6 basic figures are the must have, important items. Surely, they can do 6 in one year.

Didn’t the vintage Rock guys have different rock textures? One looked like a meteorite with craters, the other looked more craggy and jagged. They’d need different shells for that, no?

Yeah, that's probably true. I may have oversimplified it a bit lol.

Damn it NORM. Don't go making sense on me.

When some of you guys finally get all your vintage figures released, I can see you gathering them in your arms and then getting into a ship at the Grey Havens. Sailing to distant shores.

Only Two-Bad for me.

It'll be interesting to see what's in store for MOTU this year. I have faith in the movie, and it'll obviously get a merchandise push from Mattel. But will it be the only stuff at retail? Will Origins and Masterverse only be online? Will both continue? Super curious to see what happens. Once we get Two-Bad, I can see myself walking away from Origins, but they also bring out some oddball thing to tempt me. And if they start making DC figures in Origins style (which I think will happen in a crossover line), I'd get some of those.

As soon as we have them all, I'm going to get mad that there's nothing left to collect and sell the entire collection, then pout in my bedroom until Mattel reveals the next MOTU line.

My Target restocked with another case of SB He-Man. I didn't love the Horde figures, or Spikor. Sy-Klone was cool as a generic space guy. He-Man is great as a generic barbarian, though clearly recognizable as an early He-Man design. I hope they lean more into the earlier cast like Man-At-Arms, Teela, Beast Man, Tri-Klops, Trap Jaw.. Those are the characters I appreciate most.

I think SB Spikor is cool, as you can easily use him as a new character different than Spikor. Just like SB Sy-Klone can be some kind of space cop.
