Masters of the Universe: Origins

I think it will definitely fund. Bottom line, it's a fun, cool looking playset. But for me, it's a pass. Which feels weird to do on anything MOTU. But between space and the price which I feel is too much for what they are selling I'm out on this one. And it's just not a playset or concept from MOTU during my childhood. So, that makes it a little easier to skip because I have no feelings towards this playset like I do Grayskull, Snake Mountain, Eternia, etc.

But it looks cool, and I like this design WAY better. And i really hope it backs for all of you going after it. it's a neat looking playset.

I dunno, man. The Hellcharger was an awesome car with a cool new version of a legacy character. The Rancor is one of the most iconic creatures of one of the biggest properties in history. These companies should never take for granted that customers will just do, or more specifically pay, what they're told. If people feel like they're being fucked with, it's absolutely possible they will reject the product outright.

And this playset, at 300 dollars, is a fucking rip-off and customers absolutely SHOULD reject it.

I absolutely agree with you. But for some reason I just still feel like this one will fund. It's already at 1600 of 6,000. And It's neat and unique. But like you said, Hellcharger, Rancor, they didn't make it. And they were cool and are from properties far bigger than MOTU. But just purely guessing, I'm going to guess this one will succeed. I feel it in the Force.

But I think the price is crazy. And I am just sick of a lot of things Mattel does anymore. All the Mattel Creations exclusive releases, not getting the vintage collection finished before the return of Haylles Comet, making us pay $10 just for the right to buy figures on their site, the fact I have always wanted Pythonus, and even though I have been a loyal customer who has bought everything, likely won't get him unless I get this playset (which I am not).

Mattel has made the Origins/Cartoon/200x/ Collection a chore and frustration to collect.

I've added alot of 5.5" since, I think, the WWE style figures came out around 2019 Holiday season. My purchases have tailed off recently.

I'm constantly resisting the urge to dive too hard into the Origins stuff, but it's helped tremendously by how much is already out that would be a pain in the ass for me to go back and try to get. Not to mention how much of the stuff I like is exclusive to expensive playsets I wouldn't want in the first place. I've stuck to the fun crossover stuff for now, and am hoping to leave it at that.

I'm honestly starting to get a little MOTU-fatigued in general.
I think it's just because we have SO MUCH MOTU. It's the same way I got TMNT fatigue. There are just so many companies making so much TMNT. And NECA alone makes like 5 unique TMNT lines.

And MOTU is the same. With MOTU, I have bought so much stuff since I love the property. MOTU Classics, Origins, Origins Cartoon, Masterverse, CGI Netflix Cartoon, MegaBloks, MOTU Minis, etc. And that's just Mattel!

Then there is Funko, Mondo, now there is about to be Mondo 1/12. How many times can we buy these characters? How many collections from the same property do we need?

So, even though MOTU is my favorite, I'm definitely getting fatigue as well.

I'm just catching up to with some of these SDCC reveals and the Snake Lair. I would like a Snake Lair, but I can't let $300 become an almost casual purchase in the same way $80 and $125 have become. I'm going with the Snow Cat, the M.A.S.K bundle, and Mondo Savage Land Rogue (hit $315 after tariffs, shipping, and taxes). That's enough $300 toys from SDCC to late August.

Yet I'm still excited about the 200x stuff from Mattel and Mondo! I need help. It's like if they make it I'm going to buy it because it's cool and I don't want to miss out but if they stopped making it I really wouldn't be too upset. That's probably a sign of a bigger problem and maybe a sign that I shouldn't be buying it in the first place but I know I will.

Mondo and Masterverse are definitely enough for me. I'm hoping not to be enticed by the movie offerings, and I'm not really expecting to be, but at this point it would take some pretty wild and interesting new design takes to get me to buy into another MotU line. Maybe if JoyToy did 1/18 figures to accompany their TMNT line... but I doubt MotU has much brand penetration in China, so it's kinda moot.

I’m so glad Origins is doing 200X because that will help me avoid the Mondo versions for what will probably be 3x the price. I want that representation in my collection, but affordably.

I honestly feel the exact same way. Everything you just said there is me word for word. Which makes me feel like I'm almost obsessive over MOTU. And I do love MOTU. It's what got me into toy collecting in the first place. The first toy line I loved as a kid. But I have MORE than enough representation of MOTU that I never need to buy another Masters of the Universe item again.

However, like you said, I giggle pissed with excitement (well, you didn't say those exact words. I think you just said you were excited) over the 200X Mattel and Mondo showings, and even though I feel burnt out on MOTU, we all know my dumb ass is going to buy them. I'm honestly proud of myself to have the restraint I did on the Snake Lair.

It's too early to be celebrating restraint over the Snake Lair! You know how tough those final ticking seconds are when you are trying to hold out.

I'm most likely not getting it either. If this had been a Filmation style Fright Zone, even for the same price, I wouldn't have hesitated because I've always wanted one that looked like the cartoon but there is just nothing nostalgic enough about this one to encourage me to pay the rip-off price Mattel is asking at this point.

I'm really hoping I can do this. Just buy the Mattel 200X and not the Mondo. I really love how the Mattel versions look so much like the animation of the cartoon, and that honestly appeals to me more than the look Mondo is going for. Also, the Mattel figures will be much cheaper of a price as you said.
