Masters of the Universe: Origins

I've spoken too highly of Mattel lately and, maybe ironically, the Universe was watching and brought me back to reality today.

As I mentioned in the Core thread, my local Walmart went from no product at all to an entire 4' section of MOTU product. Bit of everything. And Lo! how disappointed I was in Mattel to see that, for some fucking reason that there's no way Mattel can explain their way out of, the 200x Origins figures are 24.99 and the MOTU Movie Origins figures are 32.99.

What the fuck is that.

They're going to have to do some MAJOR reworking for the He-Man lines if we're getting $13 basic figures for DC and likely something similar from TMNT, and all from Mattel. I don't at all get why the 200X Origins aren't just fully fledged 6 inch figures, also. Especially at their price points.

-I- don't get why the regular movie Origins figures, which have LESS new and unique tooling than the 200x stuff, are 30% more expensive. Fucking indefensible levels of greed.

Yep makes it easy to skip on the toys. I have a couple items I am interested in but not at full price.

I’ve had the army builder 4pk a few days now and I’ve been meaning to share my thoughts! I’ll start from the weakest:

Avion is a weird one. What makes this race interesting to me is the combination of simian build with avian tech. This figure takes away some of the simian qualities, making him look too human. The clear goggles, no beard, smooth legs, it’s Stratos cosplay.

The skeleton feels more like a Scareglow disciple than Skeletor. Which just brings to light how repetitive and redundant Scareglow actually is. The figure itself is very cool, and can pull off a couple different looks by removing the hood or cape or both or neither. The staff is cumbersome with the green effects.

The beast is fine. I think overall, the whole set needs an alternate head for each character. Removing armor and accessories can help with individuality. That said, I think this is the guy who can get away with looking identical to his race.

Mer-warrior is my fav. I love his cute little face, which even if removed, could exist as its own little character. Again, could use more to distinguish as different members of the race, but I like the use of Kobra Khan’s torso for bulk.

Opened the Slime Pit today. Assembly is required, which is fine, but some parts are permanent once they’re attached, and I don’t love that. But it’s pretty straight forward in terms of assembly and display. The head is on a nice ball joint, jaw opens wide, arms have a fixed folded position that keeps them in place, but once they reach for the victim, they swing all over. The best feature is that the pool of slime lights up. I don’t need to use the actual slime ever, so I have no intention of opening, though I also have no intention of parting with it. Right now, I have no room for it, so float around my attic bins is it.

You better open that slime. I saw a video review and it looks like the shelf life for the slime is 2030. Not much time, get to eatin'........ :ROFLMAO:

Norm's gotta eat that slime before his dog does.
The sad thing about the slime is that it comes in a green opaque ziplock bag. A plastic can would have been cool, like the old days.

Yeah, I saw that before and it's pretty lame, to be honest. For what they charge for this shit these days, they couldn't put it in a 2 cent canister?

I love Moss Man because he's flocked. I love a good flocking. Moss Man, Panotor, vintage TMNT movie Splinter.

But is this Origins movie Moss Man only flocked on his upper torso and shoulders? I mean, better than noting, I guess, but that is not a good flocking.
