Masters of the Universe Origins - Turtles of Greyskull

It didn't help that I got a notification that Archie Wingnut was up at Walmart just as I was debating adding Skele-shredder to my cart.

If you haven't noticed I'm wishy washy when it comes to figures. What I don't like this week might be my favorite next week. I should buy this guy because I will probably regret it at some point, but..... 💸

To be fair, this was probably the best Shredder/Skeletor offering. Kinda bummed I skipped it, but I've got so many of the characters covered in some way or another already.

If I could get these without the throne for like $10, I'd buy at least two more! I can't decide which look I like most!

See for me, who skipped everything TOG, the throne is the big selling point. However I have decided to keep my powder dry and wait to see if this lasts past SDCC. Then maybe I'll bundle it with some of the other upcoming releases to save a bit on shipping.

That Shredder/Skeletor is gorgeous but hot damn does it hurt when all these $50+ toys drop at the same time.

Side note but am I the only one who things that neon green Shredder-Skeletor is awesome? To me he's up there with Leatherhead, Splinter, and Android Krang as my favorite figures in the line.

Last thought regarding TOG, it really feels like the biggest screw up of this line was not giving us all four turtles in gear that could be removed to make plain MOTU Turtles in the first couple waves. If the first turtles were more standard, and later releases had funner accessories, I'd be much more inclined to buy it all. But as-is, we never got Mikey with a plain chest, the first Don had an unremovable helmet, just killed the line for me.

I didn't go in on this line, but did pick up the first version of Shredder, and with my order of a couple other MotUO figures, I got 20% off an item of my choice, and I picked Skele-Shredder for $36. I'm glad I did. The presentation on this figure is excellent. He comes in a hexagonal package, shaped like a stone sculpture of his head. When you pull the lid (almost like a slip case) up, it drops the jaw (like Castle Grayskull) and reveals Skele-Shredder sitting in his throne. It's really well executed. To remove the lid, you have to insert your fingers so two flaps don't get caught up in the package folds. I plan to keep this package to replace the throne into because it displays so well. I kinda wish the Masterverse Skeletor with throne had packaging like this.

The figure itself is tough looking. Bony gauntlets with huge claws, three alternate heads (two helmet designs and a skull head, each with Shredder's tri-crest. The hood is attached to a soft goods cape and is easily removable from the head. Lots of great armor, most of which is removable (not from the boots). He comes with a modified Havoc Staff/Naginata. The throne is meant to evoke a combination of bone and metal. I has two slots for a Foot emblem banner and a skull emblem banner (Skeletor's crew never had an official logo! Nor did He-Man.) There are also two curved bones that the extra helmets can attach to, and atop the throne is a third bronze helmet to match the throne, but can also be used as a head on a figure.

Mine has some QC issues - the green paint on his armor peels off. Not sure why the material isn't taking the paints, but they can scrape off with little effort. Otherwise, no loose joints or anything. I have other amalgamated Skeletors (MotU X TCats Skell-Ra) and Shredders (MMPR Green Ranger Shredder). This figure feels right at home in my collection. I'm interested in what Skele-Shredder details would look like at Masterverse scale. Or maybe throw some of this armor on Skell-Ra to make the ultimate '80s villain!

I had a friend report that the TCat symbols on his Tygra and Panthor both rubbed off immediately like the paint wasn't set. Seems to be a recent issue with the line, maybe?
