Masters of the Universe: Masterverse

I like the figure, but she doesn’t look like She-Ra to me. Too much divergence from, not enough retention of the original design.
There is so much retention of the original design though.

I guess I’m just more familiar with the animated design. I think you corrected me on the sword being closer to the toy also. I just don’t think of the toy design immediately. I’m way less familiar with the toy details. To me, it’s like a completely different design than the animated model.

For sure. She definitely looks nothing like Filmation She-Ra. I'd love to see all the vintage PoP figures done up as New Eternia style since they are doing cartoon designs in Origins.

Toy Habits is saying Wave 19 is Mosquitor, Mantenna, and Anti-Eternia He-Man. Sounds great to me!

That custom Mosquitor by Dark Spectre Designworks - DSD is my best friend, lol. Known him 23 years, I've seen that custom in person.

Received Ninjor and Terror Claws today. They’re cool. My Ninjor poses fine, though I haven’t attempted a two hand grip on the sword. TC looks great, though a little more techy than I anticipated. I also thought there would be some articulation in the fingers. Just the wrists. Oh well. He’s a solid variant costume.

Today's word from Toy Habits is that the Masterverse rebranding will be known as either Chronicles or Masterverse Chronicles, and that the first figure is a Movie Chronicles Scareglow, who is apparently going to be in the movie next year (because, who isn't?).

It really surprises me how many characters are in this movie coming up. To hear that Scareglow might be in it to is crazy. But I like the name Chronicles, or Masterverse Chronicles. It works. But at the same time, just Masterverse works. The name Masterverse lets you know it's supposed to be figures from all over the Multiverse of MOTU. So, I don't feel it's necessary to change the name.

But a new name and rebranding during a movie year I guess does make it all fresher and more exciting.

They can call it "Kyle's Big Box of Warrior People", and I will still buy them as long as they're figures of MOTU characters.

This is the same Toy Habits that said we were getting Peekablue, Glimmer, and Despara in the Masterverse POP subline last year. Boy, those would have been nice releases, especially before switching the arm design.

I love the Masterverse Horde so far, and Mantenna and Modulok would make it feel complete. I wouldn’t even be opposed to a Modulok that abandons the modular gimmick. Scorpia, Entrapta, and Octavia would be bonuses, but they seem to be taking the sweetest time to make females in this line so I’m not holding my breath.

Not to bring the room down, but I'm getting really bummed out about Blade. TS hasn't answered my inquiry about whether or not they'd be getting in any stock, and I haven't heard of any TRUs getting him. Which seems to mean I've basically missed the boat, the same way some people missed out on Beast Man. So upset. Totally my own fault, too. I should have pre-ordered him when I had the chance.

Some of the availability for these figures is very odd.

Man, New Eternia Teela in the upcoming Wave of Masterverse was one I was really looking forward to. But some leaked images of her makes me a little concerned. It looks like her eyes are painted looking straight up (on this figure anyways) and her face and overall face sculpt isn't as good as some of the recent Masterverse figures.

It's not bad, it's just not great. I was hoping she'd be as good as the recent New Eternia Evil Lynn.

You can see the figure as well as New Eternia Hordak in this video from Mega Jay Retro here on this YouTube video.

What do you guys think? Hordak looks amazing by the way.

Evil-Lynn is started to look more and more like an anomaly than Masterverse improving at female face sculpts. The females in this line have so much promise but they just can't seem to knock any of them out of the park. I'm not going to rant again about it but quite simply they are moving backwards. Hordak looks neat, I prefer this color scheme to the blue one. There's also pictures of Vintage Stratos who looks to be going up on Walmart for their Walmart "pre order for no reason" fest.

Speaking of which, Vintage Faker is supposed to show up today! I'm so excited! Sure, it's 6PM and it hasn't even changed from "Placed" to "Preparing" but Walmart PROMISES it'll be here today. Walmart would never be wrong or lie to me, right??

Wal-Mart would never lie to you. You'll be opening that Faker any minute. And by any minute I mean in 3 to 4 days if you're even lucky enough to get what you actually ordered in the first place, bearing in mind they may just cancel the whole order any second for no reason.

I keep seeing Vintage Faker and Zodac in pretty big amounts in all the nearby Wal-Marts. It's strange, because Wal-Mart usually just doesn't get ANY of their own exclusives at retail. But for those 2 figures, they got way too many.

But that Teela is a little disappointing. And you are right, the female figures have so much potential, but quite often fall short when it comes to their head/face sculpt.
