Marvel Select

Yes, Bain Capital. Alliance seems like it could be a good landing spot, and I think its better for the workers than the last minute deal. That had Diamond Select going under the Joel Weinshanker umbrella with NECA and smelled like a deal just for the licensing deals and molds. Not sure how many people would have been kept onboard if such an agreement had come to pass. I'm still hoping for a good outcome for all of those who work for Diamond.

Yeah, it's my understanding they're primarily a distributor. That probably bodes well for the Diamond Select crew assuming Alliance still wants the outfit to continue producing toys and such. They'll need those employees to keep it going and hopefully that's how it all plays out.

If you're in the downstate New York area, or Western CT, I'm signing my book of toy photography, Wild Toys, at the Imperial Castle toy shop in Pawling, NY this Saturday, 4/26, from 1-5. Lots of Marvel Select pics inside! It's also available on Amazon, and I can send out signed bookplates if you can't make it. But if you're in the area come on by!

I’m always happy to support a fellow collector’s creative endeavors. I was reading your bio, I knew about Toyfare, but I didn’t know you were with Robot Chicken too!

Awesome! I sourced all the toys and most of the customs for RC when it was still an internet series called "Sweet J Presents." Most of the toys were re-used when they re-animated the episodes for the first season of the TV show. So I'm in the credits for the first few episodes, I kind of got grandfathered in.

Apparently, Alliance just canceled its purchase of Diamond.
The articles I've seen speculate that the second highest bidder (Universal and Ad Populum) will now have an opportunity to purchase. I don't know the implications of any of this, except it's delaying any closure to the bankruptcy. I feel bad for Zach and the other Diamond/DST employees who, I assume, have to be stressed from this roller-coaster of on then off then on then off bankruptcy sale. I also assume it means figures will be more delayed.

I wonder if market uncertainty killed it? Or maybe some backdoor shenanigans by Universal/Ad Populum to convince Alliance to drop out? It sucks though. I felt Alliance was a better spot, though I'm just some guy on the Internet.

The articles speculate the trade war Trump escalated likely contributed to AENT canceling the purchase, especially since the gaming industry seems to be particularly impacted, and Alliance Games was a major part of the deal. That makes sense to me.

What makes you think AENT would have been better than Universal/Ad Pop? I know Ad Populum owns NECA. I don't know if that is good or bad for DST and its employees.
