Marvel Megos

Aside form some of the Aforementioned Avengers and X-Men, I wouldn't mind another Spider-Man set. Maybe a set with Black Costume Spider-Man, Mysterio, Vulture, and Doc Ock.

I could go for a Black Cat. Little after the Mego era, sure, but her costume would actually translate well to the Mego aesthetic. Which has always been a point of curiosity/ concern for me with getting a Mego Doom or Doc Ock.

Yeah that's the thing that keeps me torn on what I want from Mego. Part of me really wants them to only make the characters that were relevant to the 70's when I collected them as a kid. Doctor Doom, Black Panther, Vision, Scarlet Witch, Hawkeye, Silver Surfer, Rhino, and Abomination all come to mind.
But another part of me likes some of the great characters that came later. Wolverine, Magneto, Storm, Rogue, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Beast, Hobgoblin, and She-Hulk top my list.

I guess I'd rather Mego sticks to the 70's vibe to finish off the originally promised 2 sets.
Then, if they are successful, maybe Disney will allow them to make some of the more popular characters that came later.
What ever happens, I'm thrilled to finally have Marvel Megos again

Lots of great choices. Once the Sinister Six is completed, as far as Spidey villains go, I'd love to get a Hobgoblin Mego figure!

All those X-Men work in the 70s with the exception of Rogue. It is really when they came to prominence and won the crown. The later 80s and 90s is just when they held the crown; not when they earned it.

I’m firmly on this side of the fence. I’m only interested in characters that Mego would have likely made at the height of the line’s popularity (circa 1974-1976) as opposed to characters that Mego would have likely made if the line’s popularity had continued well into the 80s.

To me, the most obvious omission in the Mego WGSH line on the Marvel side was Daredevil. After that, I think you’ve got a pretty open field with most of the characters you mentioned leading the pack.

However, if I had to venture a guess, I’d say the next set will be (very loosely) themed to align with Avengers: Doomsday (Doctor Doom, the Falcon, and two other characters) with the fifth and final set being X-Men themed (which I will likely pass on).

I agree that Daredevil would have been a likely choice. My point is none of the X-men were really on the radar. I had no idea the X-men existed while growing up in the 70’s. I knew all about them in the 80’s.

They were C listers and rising. I was an early adopter. I think its fine for them to count as 70s characters. At least the early Cockrum / Byrne team.
That’s a good way to put it. My first All New, All Different X-Men book was No. 96. It came in one of those three packs you used to find at the grocery store. I had no time for that nonsense. Giant Size X-Men No 2 (Thomas/Adams reprints) was where it was at! However, I finally got with the program by 1978 and picked up all of the back issues I was missing (including No. 94 and GSX No. 1) before the prices started skyrocketing. (Or rather my parents did. 😛). It wasn’t until ‘79/‘80 that the book really took off.

I keep forgetting about Dr. Strange! I agree that he would have been a front runner as well.

All good with me if they or their immediate teammates were on a Slurpee cup then they are fair game. They just have to have been wanted in that time for me. I mean Dr Fate and Reverse Flash have retro Megos. They look great. Electro likely would never have been made. I think of it as it’s 1978 or 79. Mego is explosively successful and have made not 13 characters but 80. Who are they?

Jesus the ordeal with these. 10 min Past the release time and it still wont go live.

I was there at 11:03, and when I clicked on the listing, it immediately changed from Coming Soon to Add to Bag. I got in and out without too much trouble, but weren’t these sets around $80 last year or am I just imagining things? With shipping and taxes, the set cost me $123 and change.

If been updating the page every minute since 5 min before. Never went to add. Just says coming soon.

The Spidey set is still available at $89.99; that’s what the FF set went for too.
