Marvel Legends Two-Packs

In the Worst Timeline, the only MCU Born Again figures are a two-pack of Heather and Buck with all new sculpts, and a deluxe release of the same Kingpin figure from Hawkeye packed with a hammer accessory and a plain blank rectangle of cardboard to use as a diorama piece of the damn white painting.

Nat and Pietro shipped for me just now. Should be here tomorrow. Not a set I was impatient for but definitely will enjoy having a box to open this weekend.

I can't resist the urge to say that the Heather figure would come with a Kung Fu grip.

I’m going to wait until a discount appears for Nat and Pietro as I don’t feel a dire need for them but they’ll be certainly ‘nice to have’.

Lately I’ve seen almost every 2-pack that wasn’t an exclusive drop by 20% within 4-6 months of release, so the savings from patience would have been decent, or at least afforded me buying a multiple here or there for trading with buddies or custom fodder.

I don't think anyone has to take one for the team. Hasbro released a Widow costume let's be generous and say two people clamored for and locked it in with a character costume people have asked for.

And then barebones the release and charge full price. Nah. Not effort or a pattern worth rewarding at full price. You do you, but no way for me.

This set could have been anyone and been better.

Hasbro's practices around 2-packs is not great, but it's a stretch to call this anything like a hostage pack. It's two Avengers from the same era wearing complementary looks, and Black Widow is way more popular and in demand than Quicksilver in general - and personally, I haven't seen any great demand for 90s Quicksilver. No disagreement about it being bare bones, though - they certainly didn't go overboard in the effort category.

It's definitely a low-effort pack but yeah, it doesn't fall into a hostage pack for me the way, oh, half the Wolverine two-packs or the Deathbird/Gladiator pack did, where we were getting a completely unasked-for upgrade to an existing figure paywalling a new, desired character. Even the Inhumans two packs were closer to that though I do think the remakes were good enough upgrades that they added value (but it would've have been kinder to do a two-pack of Black Bolt and Medusa for those who wanted the upgrade and put the two unmade characters in a separate two-pack, but they WANTED us to buy all four).

It's funny, I'm both excited and indifferent to this two pack - I just really like the two characters, am looking forward to having a new look for both, but it's not something that I TRULY needed. I'm mostly just looking forward to having something new show up for the dopamine boost and they are both that kind of lean, uncluttered buck that is fun to pose.

I just need to be assured that these versions of Romanov and Maximoff have other figures to be displayed with. Are these post-Heroes Return? Or did they appear this way before that? Like, which version of Iron Man would go with?

These figures are from the story The Crossing.

It’s . . . not a very popular Iron Man story.
OK I just skimmed a synopsis. That's pretty poor. Yeah, this set is an odd choice. I'll take both figures, but I'm sure I can find other places for them. I feel like we have a good number of distinctly '90s Avengers figures they could blend into. I assume this is what Widow wore after the gray catsuit?

I actually like these costumes, and I am amused that they are making looks from The Crossing. I’d buy more, I’d even get “both” Iron Mans for comedy value.
