Marvel Legends Preorders - When and Where

Just got a text from Walmart regarding my ‘77 Spider-Man preorder:

“Sorry, we had to cancel your Walmart preorder due to an inventory issue. “

This after receiving a text a few days ago alerting me to imminent shipment .

I hate Walmart. Same thing happened with a preorder I had last year for Mego Atlas figures. How can they accept preorders months in advance, then have insufficient inventory to cover those preorders?
🤬

Me too. I assumed 77 would get canceled. At this point I'm shocked if they honor a preorder at all.

Same. Oddly my Crystal ball came through after I saw others getting cancellation notices. Next up Gamerverse!

Apparently mine has shipped. And by mine I mean the one I ordered after they cancelled my original pre-order then it went back up. Did y'all have that too?

For Spidey '77, I got the "your order is delayed" which I know means it's going to be cancelled, again. This is also my re-order after the orignal cancellation. Walmart does this to me all of the time. It's always delayed, delayed again and then cancelled. Every single time. If it's as easy to find in stores as the Spirit Spider is right now then I won't care. My Walmart has 8 of those things on the pegs and I bet that half of them eventually hit clearance.

Do you really think it will hit clearance? I thought this figure was cool enough to buy three at full price.

Who knows, honestly. It's a cool figure but I received mine in the mail and all 8 from the case have been sitting on the pegs for over a week untouched at my local store.

I found a DC Multiverse red and gold Azrael there a couple of weeks ago on clearance for $10 and I'm pretty sure that it never even hit the normal pegs (or electronics collector section now) at that same Walmart. At the Target across the street I bought several retro card Prof X at the final clearance price of $7.49 each. I expect to end up with even more of the X-Factor Jean at that same price any time now. I can't tell that a single one was purchased at full price, it's at $17.49 now and still can't tell that even one has been bought.

I've often complained about my local stores not carrying their own exclusives, but if this is what happens when they do then I understand why.

I DEFINITELY agree about Jean Grey. My two Targets are so overloaded with her that I returned the ones I paid $24.99 for and will play the waiting game for replacements.

Did anyone find Ghost Spider or indeed any of the recent exclusives outside of the magical middle island? I have not and those all sold out quick.

Got the cancellation on both of my '77 orders. I expect it to get relisted as in stock, at which point I will place a new order.

I got this same notice about a month ago. Same deal: text telling me it's about to ship, then a cancelation a couple days later. I'm hoping I find it in stores.

The distribution makes zero sense. NONE of the Walmarts near me have the Spirit Spider...haven't once seen him. Of course, I also haven't seen the fabled island display so many Wallys seem to have.

I swear they ship all of each individual figure to one region, fulfill that region, overstock the shelves, and screw over the rest of the country. Feels like this happens every time. If you live near wherever the one truck with all of X figure is delivered your entire toy section is full of them, but if you're not you never see them. Walgreens used to do this, too.

I know it's a business and we live in a lazy corporate hellscape, but it feels like no matter how many times they do it, partnering with retailer that doesn't give a shit about the product you're selling (be it toys or anything else) is a bad idea, and Walmart doesn't give a shit about aaaaaanything. Pure churn.

So weirdly my 77 Spidey is “preparing” with a delivery date of today.
And in my FedEx queue there is a label created from the local depot that Walmart tends to deliver from.
Sooooo maybe?
Could be other stuff, though, I have a couple of things supposedly coming Monday from Walmart (Classified Night Force and the Black Series Mummy Stormtrooper) so I suppose the label could be for them, but they aren’t “preparing” yet.
🤷‍♂️
